I've bought an android tablet for my eldest, 7 and a half. I'll put iplayer and netflix on it and download some stuff for her to watch but would welcome any suggestions for age appropriate games to put on too, ta

Family Link is your best new friend - install it on your phone, you use this to set time limits, allow or block apps based on the fresh gmail account you use to set it up

I currently have this conundrum with my daughter - similar age at just over 7.

She's used a Kindle Fire up until now with the £2.99 entertainment thing - my Wife has dealt with that, so I haven't really had to manage it at all.

But, we got her a Lenovo M10 for Christmas & the set-up of it had me a bit bamboozled.
After spending a bit of time on Google, I have installed the Family Link app on my tablet & set her up with her own child Google account.

The tablet is set-up in Google Kids Space mode for her. I am not sure I really like it, as it doesn't look like a normal 'tablet'. But, we are running with it at the moment.
With the family link app you can restrict what content can be downloaded & can keep tabs on how long they are spending on each app etc.

I thought I had locked it down pretty well, but have let her download some apps with ads which in hindsight was a massive mistake. Some of games are more ads than games, while others have ads that I don't think are particularly appropriate. I need to review & remove some of the things I have already let her on with.

In terms of suitable games etc. it would be great to have some suggestions from people, so I'll keep my eyes peeled on here.
I have just remembered that CBeebies have a load of apps, so I will probably load them onto the tablet later.

Youtube kids set to the appropriate age range (not perfect but we've not encountered much of concern) then apps for any subscription streaming services.

For games we got a Nintendo switch.

Neither devices are used unsupervised (i.e. they don't disappear to their rooms with them and we set time-limits)
