I've owned a silver 1 litre Sigg bottle for 16 years. Originally bought for hiking, it was already pretty battered when i started using it as a bike bottle. Mates think it's hilarious and have commented that it looks like it's been used as a football for most of those 16 years. It is on its second lid, and has inner tube glued in strategic positions to prevent rub marks. But i like it, especially as I ran over its sister bottle with a slasher on the back of a tractor shortly after buying them.

Surely i'm not alone with an irrational attachment to such things... am I?

Thunderbird 2 Horn from the tandem. Used to sit on the back of the kiddyback and get squeaked at regular intervals. It’s been 20 years and sits next to the Zwift set up.

I have a couple of things. A custom headset top cap engraved with my late cycling buddies nickname. So in a crazy way he still comes out on rides. I gave my son my nearly 30 year old Park AWS4 multitool, that has a lot of sentimental value. I also have a sentimental bike from 1986 which I inherited from the same late cycling buddy. That again has huge sentiment attached.

I have a Fox jersey that was literally the first bit of mtb kit I bought when I started riding again in about 2008- I don't wear it often but every time I pick it up it reminds me of those early rides.

I still have a blue era LX rear derailleur on my main bike.

That's more to do with tightness than sentiment.

Actually quite a bit of that group set is still in service.

I've got my dad's old bell on one of my bikes, he's not dead or anything yet, but it is nice to have something of his that I use regularly.

Top cap. It's a pic of my lad from an FoD race, his first proper race. Then designed into a piece of art that hangs on the wall at home by our resident STW designer.... that then turned into a top-cap from the image file.
So every ride i do, i take my lad out with me 🙂

A mate got me a headset spacer engraved with "There is always time for beer and cake". It gets moved from bike to bike as I change them. Caused complications at a bike fit once when he wanted to swap it out and had to juggle a few others to keep it.

I've got a few maps and lift passes that I've keep from MTB holidays, which are really just scraps of paper, but remind me of some quite excellent times.  I've also got a really old pertex windproof that was the first bit of "technical" MTB clothing that I bought. It's so thin now that it never gets used, but it lives at the back of the drawer, never to be thrown out.

I've only just thrown out my cracked Commencal frame that I've been clinging on to since it broke 10 years ago!
I'm sure I'll be digging up other 'treasure' as I try and pack up and move house!

I still have and use a plastic bottle cage from (iirc) the late 80s. It’s a specialized one, i often use it to lift the bike.
And the first cycling jersey i bought in 1986 or so. It doesn’t fit me of course.

A Lambert sealed cartridge bearing hub from the mid 70s. It's been on one of my race bikes ever since, currently on a 1997 Look limited Tour edition in ONCE colours.

I’m not the sentimental type, but my MASH doughnut top cap does get transferred to the ‘best bike’ as they get replaced.

Originally it was bought for my Cinelli Parallax, got transferred onto my Pipedream while I had that, and now resides on my Stooge.
