I see this on a daily basis on my commute. Mainly van drivers either on the phone or texting with their phone at the top of the steering wheel. I think the offence should be a simple 3 month ban. No ifs, no buts.

Just wondering whether anyone else has sent footage in to the police if you do capture someone doing this and manage to get their number plate?

You could do, but Plod won't be interested.

Doesn't count as evidence; so you are just wasting your battery.

Please do. At least you'll not feel so helpless next time someone gets killed by a selfish twunt who things they're some driving got who is above the law.

Couple of junctions on the M1 every day at rush hour, I reckon maybe as many as 1 in 5 drivers are guilty of this.

South Yorkshire police will accept that as evidence. You'll need to report it via 101. Need to have a clear shot of the person using the phone, there face and the registration of the car.

You'd be as well sending them dick pics for all the good it'd do.

Watch what you say everyone, captain clipe is here and he will be taking notes for teacher.

Might be better sending it the company owner if its a branded van from a big company.

Probably do no good unfortunately, however I often try and shame people if I see them on their phone in the car. Get eye contact (not always possible it they're really engrossed!), shake of head and tut. Some give you the finger, some sheepishly put it away.

I refused to get off a zebra crossing the other day until the van driver who was stopped for me turned his phone off and put it down! Might make me seem like a dick, but eventually the beeping horns behind him, and my comment of 'go on then, run me over.' made him comply. I even used my teacher voice on him 😈 it's surprisingly effective on a lot of idiots, some sort of Pavlovian response to an authoritative voice!

Considering when I contacted a company this week who's driver of a 20T shit mover jumped TWO red lights in a row - The second of which also had him hit my elbow and wing mirror of the bike as he accelerated across the stop line whilst crossing the lane divider.
The director of said company then proceeded to give a tirade of abuse over the phone which prompted me to drop into the nearest police station...
If he'd been nice, I'd have left it at that. He wasn't.
So if anyone comes across Sibley Material Movements wagons - stear well clear as they don't care what their drivers do although Hants Police do and have the footage along with the cctv from both junctions.

A friend has tweeted police Scotland with stills from his camera of a guy driving terribly to find he had an ipad and phone in his lap still giving abuse. PS were taking it up with the driver, I believe.

Sibley Material Movements you say?

[img] [/img]

This is Bob the transport manager and his email address is

bobholbrough@materialmovements.co.uk

I might have to contact him to express my concerns at the companies attitude to the behaviour of their drivers, maybe others would like to do the same. 🙂

Strangely enough he wasn't there although the managing director was and he was quite happy to give me plenty of "colourful" words over the phone.

Oddly he was a little less vocal when called back after leaving the station to pass the crime number on to him should he wish to take it up with his driver of HX53 OAV.......

Sibley Material Movements you say? I'm sure I've read about them somewhere before.

Sibley Material Movements ...
Sibley Material Movements ...
Sibley Material Movements ...

...no, can't quite remember. But I shall certainly be wary of any Sibley Material Movements vehicles I see on the road, specially since the director of Sibley Material Movements seems to condone the dangerous drive no of drivers employed by Sibley Material Movements.

Only made it to page 5 on Google, but whilst checking found this
Would seem that they have cameras in their vans (or at least have done in the past). In the example above the cyclist is being a bit daft, but doesn't look like van was planning on giving him much space...

Good idea. I'll get straight onto it. If you never hear from me again then assume that everything went swimmingly.

Its well worth sending them in. I believe one of the Glasgow " helmet cam warriors" has been responsible for several prosecutions on the strength of his filming along with his statements. I would have thought at the very least they will get a marker on the reg of the car so be more likely to be stopped in future.

There are quite a few complaints of their drivers. Twitter especially!
If they do have cameras in all their vehicles then I can see them deleting the footage of wednesdays "incident"
