I've sold my mums car on ebay on behalf of my parents (registered to my mum). The person who has bought it is coming to get it tomorrow. Unfortunately my mother has vascular dementia and is not in a position to sign the V5. From what I understand (admittedly second hand from my dad) this is fine, as now all you need to do is have the V5 document number and you can do it all on line without needing a signature from the registered keeper?

Anyone know if this is correct? Current plan is they send me the money via BACS, I make out a receipt (1 x old ford fiesta reg xyz) and give them the new keeper slip, then fill the online form in.

Any flaws with this plan?

Online is easiest now, only available 7am-7pm though. Just need reg, V5 document reference number and the new keepers details.

AA do a basic private car sale contract if you want one to print out

Yep - the online thing is incredibly straightforward and very quick to get the confirmation through.
