I bought a Titanium Oris Automatic watch about 9 years ago when i was in Dubai. I am 99 percent sure its genuine but as it has absolutely no paperwork there is no way i could sell it, although it does have the box thankfully.

I looked on the Oris website but unless you registered the watch after purchase then they don't seem to have a record of it.

So what is my next step. Try and find a dealer and take it to them?

Surely, (if like my omega) it will have a serial number on the case and possibly movement. This must then be relative to the selling franchise. However my brother in law buys some absolute spanking copies when in Dubai. If you didn't know better you'd never tell....

Yep it has a serial number on the rear next to the automatic movement clear case. But i didn't register the watch when i bought it. So trying to do a search on the ORIS website is not throwing anything up.

Most movements are made by ETA (Swatch), Seiko or Citizen (both of these have their own manufacturer and I can't remember their names). Could be worth checking their websites or emailing. They may be able to help with who supplied which movements to whom.

'fake watches' often have reasonable to good movements in them!

As it is a quality Swiss watch I would check ETA first. Some of the Swiss companies have contracts with the Japanese companies now.

Post up a pic of the clear glass movement from the back.

Sounds legit to me, I will probably have a Sellita SW200 movement or an ETA 2824.

You do not need paper work to sell it. It will lower price however. Personally I would use Ebay. Good description, how you are the original owner, how well it keeps time, lots and lots of pics.

Here's what I'd do. Take some pics of the watch.

Email them to Oris saying that you'd like them to confirm the reference number so that you can send it for a service this is required Here

Then do some research. Images, forums, compare yours with the images of the genuine ones and see if there were a run of fakes (if it weren't faked, people have no worries)

I would consider a manufacturer service. This would prove that it's gen, and people won't pay too much for a 9 y/o watch which hasn't been serviced in any case.

Pm me with the s/n. Ill tell you if it matches.

Very unlikely to be a fake if you bought it in good faith, there arent a lot of fake oris about that are good copies especially 10 years ago. What is it a TT1? Not really a massive issue to sell without papers tbh, its not like its a 5k rolex. Depending of course what youre expecting to get for it...

If it’s a TT1 then ETA 7750, I have one (Ceramic Chronograph) and just checked the details.

If it’s the TT1 unlikely to have great resale, mine was only £1250 new from John Lewis about 5 years ago. I’d stick it on eBay with a Buy It Now price and see what happens.

Hey guys, thanks for all the help. I have absolutely no idea how to post pics on here now.

Nick, thanks for the offer. Serial number has been PM to you.

Found the exact same watch on ebay with a Buy It Now price. Although it has paperwork. Ill keep an eye on it.

Ill email oris tomorrow and probably go down the service route and that will get everything in order. 🙂

Cheers all.
