Brother has just bought a new one but paid cash to get a decent deal, so had no chance to trade in his old one. So what the best way to approach selling his old one? His job as a long haul airline steward means he's not around with any kind of regular routine, and is lost on what to do about test rides, if he does sell it privately.
We're hedging towards giving it to a shop to sell for him, if we can find one that'll do that, and other idea's?
And cause your all nosy..
Bike for sale: Honda Transalp
New bike: SCM 650 SuperDual
I sold mine though one of the online services, they gave a price that'd I'd have struggled to get privately if I'm honest and way more than similar ones offered me.
www.wewantyourmotorbike.com
It was immaculate, low mileage with full dealer history etc though.
I wasn't aware of any online motorbike buying sites, that great thanks
there's webuyanybike.com too.
PAying a shop, most will do it, but depends on age/condition etc of course. You're looking at £500 for them doing it.
I've sold multiple bikes for people who live up in Scotland who are unable to get it done easily.
The one i linked to offered me £1k more than any of the others, I was positive they'd made a mistake but they were more than happy with it when they turned up to collect it.
I’ve just sold two on eBay. My NC700X and my wife’s MT07. Both went for what I thought they were worth. I played the system a bit though. Both went on in succession as a classified ad first, then once I’d got watchers I changed it to an auction with a reserve and a buy it now. This stokes the flames a bit I think. The first buyer hit the buy it now, the second one it went to the end.
Also, remove all accessories and sell separately. They aren’t worth a penny with the bike.
what do you do about test rides though? Brother isn't that confident that he'd be happy following on his other bike

Check insurance cover (theirs), licence (theirs), and get all the cash in your hands before they go. Cash, nothing else like the key to a bike they turned up on (it may have been stolen etc etc)
Make sure you have a mobile number for them that works
Make sure your bike has MOT / VED so that "if" they have an incident it's roadworthy.
Mixed feelings about taking the buyer as pilion personally. I'd rather have the cash and they went themselves.
Plenty of dealers will actually buy for cash.. At trade price of course, but they'll still buy it.
