I am in the process of sorting out my uncle's estate, and there is his car to sell. I have the v5, and the solicitors (who are the executors) have verbally said that I am ok to go ahead and sell the car.
what happens regarding signing the v5? should I get the v5 changed so that its got my name on it, then I can sell it as if its mine?
you can sign as the keepers representative, I think. Pretty sure I did this when I sold my brothers landrover on ebay.
Ask the solicitors...
I would get it changed. 'Registered keeper' does not mean 'owner' anyway. It'll be easier to sell if all the documents are in your name as some buyers will be put off otherwise
I've sold my dad's car - while he was in hospital and in any case incapacitated. I did have power of attorney for his affairs though - so I must have signed it "on behalf of" or "power of attorney" I guess.
Inform DVLA and get the V5 changed to your name, and then sell it.
thanks folks
