I’ve got a business idea.
To buy a car you have to register on an approved website.
Approved by who I don’t know, let’s just say the world.
When registering, your phone looks at whatever to determine if you’re a bit of a throbber.
If throbber=Y, you’re banned from using aforementioned website.
Ta bloody daaa.
Are throbbers not allowed to buy a car then?
asking for a friend, obv
No they are not.
The more I think about it, the more problems it fixes.
to determine if you’re a bit of a throbber.
Can we not have a legal charge of "breaking rule No.1"?
If you're found guilty you're banned from being in public for a few weeks and have to pick litter.
I've sold a fair amount of stuff recently including a car and throbbers usually reveal themselves pretty quickly and get given short shrift. Red flags:
- Any sort of special pleading. I don't care that you really want it but could you X, Y or Z. You have money. I have goods. You give me money I give you goods. Otherwise **** off. People who say how much their kids need it can doubly **** off.
- Inability to behave in a civil sort of way. Being rude or just a bit of fanny. **** off. I sold a car recently to a Syrian guy who could barely string a sentence together but 30 seconds talking to him you could see he was a functioning human. Some dick from the next village who can't be arse to to talk or write properly can **** off.
- Trying to behave like an east end market trader and barter for stuff but in an cackhanded, aggressive sort of way despite revealing that they a) want it and b) have travelled a long way. **** off.
The absolute cardinal rule is never, ever give anything away for free. It just drags out the worst entitled scumbags ever. I've had more agro from free stuff than all the stuff I've sold.
I had "would you take 50% of X?" where X is the price they've just won it for on a week long ebay auction.
Go on then, what is it and how much?
Just build an app that automatically blocks anybody who uses the word bud. Job done.
Is this still availabel?
I got reported on faceache for being a scammer because I wouldn't take £5 for something I was selling for £250. They also made sure to tell me that they'd called the police on me!

Yeah, Facebook buyers are very often insane. I don't sell much on there, but recently sold a low value car – within 15 minutes of placing the ad, I got a message offering me half the advertised price, telling me how much he was doing me a favour, that I'd never sell it at anything like the price I was asking, that his price was the market average etc etc etc.
About 30 minutes later I had sold it for the price I wanted to a dealer who came round and collected at 10am the next morning with zero fuss.
