~Just had the happy news that the fix for my Mazda 3 is most likely to be a new traction control pump/unit/thingy another one of those "common faults" - new cost £1200 + labour 😯 , needs about another £150-200 of other "normal" bits for a 5 year old car.
Whats the experience on buying second hand parts from a breaker and does anyone have any reccomendations?
I've replaced a lot of parts on simple cars with stuff from the scrappy.
But mainly wiper motors/door motors, catches, knobs and dials etc, did get a mechanical turbo to replace but then discovered a split in tubing that was nearly impossible to see except under load.
Might be worth getting something like a pump from the scrappy, but make sure the part was/is working, or check you can bring it back if it doesn't work.
Only ever had positives here.
ive also done alot of replacements from the scrappy
what ive noticed of late is that parts from the scrappy are now priced at a blanket 2/3rds of the new price as oppose to the old "aye 20 quid cash for that"
alot of the time i get a price now and end up buying new as its not much more for piece of mind.
