Considering one these as my next car - either FR Sport or Curpa if budget allows....
I have a very quick, but strange question.
Can someone measure the outside length of the driver's door please.
Told you it was strange!
Reason being I want to see if it's shorter than my current car door, as the neighbour has now put railings all along the drive their side I can't fully open my door.
Just want to check if I can open the Leon doors any wider.
Thanks
I have an estate Leon Cupra R. I'm sure the doors are probably all the same so will give it a measure...
3 door you after or 5?
@lucky7500 - greatly appreciated, body for standard estate and Cupra estate are same as far as I know.
@mattvanders after dimensions of the estate.
The door is pretty much 109cm at the longest point.
Are we talking the new car, or previous generation?
2018 model - whichever that one was.
But if the same as lucky7500's then that's 7cm shorter than my current doors.
Mine was new in 2019 if that makes any difference.
I've got a ST Cupra 4drive (MY20)....very pleased with it. I wasn't convinced originally having come from a 6cyl Beemer, but the more I drive, the more I like. Can be a tranquil cruiser or a great point to point wagon.
I have downsized to 18" alloys. Transformed the experience on potholed roads.
Thanks all.
Would really like the Cupra but FR Sport 190bhp is looking more likely due to being about £5k cheaper.

How did this work? Did you have to find non-Cupra wheels? Have you kept the originals or sold them on? Did you have to make any other changes (e.g. recalibrating speedo/trip)?

I bought some Dezent 8.5J x 18" ET51 wheels and put Goodyear Vector 4 season 225/40R18 tyres on. Speedo is about 1% different. Informed insurance and enjoy not cringing every time I drive up a bad road!
Yes I kept originals, which I'll sell with car when it's time.

I went through the same process and got the FR ST. Ended up getting Seat to take it back, but that was an issue with my local dealer (Bristol) more than the car. The car was lovely except for the issues. The 190 feels nippy rather than “fast”, but it’s a nice drive. I also test drove a golf GTD estate - the Seat was nicer.
That all said, once Seat took the car back I got a 5 series touring...
Does the actual width of the car not affect how much you can open them in a tight space, not just how wide the doors are?
It does - both cars are roughly the same width within 5mm, hence asking about the doors.

I've been looking at those, or it's Golf R estate cousin. Not easy to find the Cupras! Lots of the FWD hatches though.
Also looking at these (not fast ones) and have a question. Looking at the various specs, it states roof rails are an option on some models and standard on others. But every picture I've seen of any st model has roof rails. Tell me none of them have decorative roof rails!

what about the angle that the doors open to? I don't think you can reasonably assume this is the same.. RIDC has cars between 60 and 70 deg (which would add 7cm to a 1m door), the leon is 66deg..
@5lab - the Seat had wider opening doors too - 66 deg compared to 64 deg on my i40.
Although now with the railings I can't open the door fully anyway, so in theory a shorter wider opening door will make for an easier access/egress.
Just measured the doors on my FR estate.
A smidge over 109cm on the front door as per lucky7500 (as you'd expect, I guess!)
Rear door is ~99cm

I thought they were standard on all ST models, but options on the hatchback. I could be wrong, but like you say I can't recall seeing an estate without roof rails.

Same here, price seems to have crept up a fair bit over the last 12 months as well. Hoping the end of lockdown might see a drop in the prices.

Last time I checked, mine was worth what I paid new.... there weren't many of the roll-out Cupras that made it here for various reasons. See lots of Golf Rs however....
I’ve got a 3 door/coupe 150bhp 2.0 diesel, had it as a company car before leaving and buying back. 3 door doors are longer than the 5/estate (they are same size doors). If I had the choice I would of gone 180bhp diesel but more than happy for normal motorway miles and over takes. Would buy a equivalent golf as spec tents to be worse and cost higher as a whole.
