Long shot but has anyone got one? Looking at my next car as mine was written off a few weeks ago. Not considering the Skoda's just really looking at the SEAT with a little more room in the back for bike duties.

Yeah got a 2004 1.6tdi. really like it. 58mpg long term and no VED to pay. Drives really nicely, well handles well. Very little power in that little diesel but it's absolutely perfect as a commuter.

Interior is comfortable and with seats in the back down its pretty huge. Front passenger seat folds forward flat too so I can fit 2 windsurf boards, 3 masts and 5-6 sails in. Can put my gravel bike in without removing wheels.

That’s a neat trick. Wish my golf (and the one before, and the one before that) did that.

I have the Leon Cupra ST and am hugely impressed by its practicality.

I tend to put bikes on top, but have had them in the boot and it's a great size.

Not sure my front seat fold flat....be great if it did.

Had a 2015 Seat Leon ST 185 FR Tech pack. Excellent car, nippy very easy to drive, loads of torque, great economy. I had the manual version. Less flashy than the Golf GTD but better looking I think. Only got rid because Mrs Inbred never got over our Yeti and wanted a 4WD SUV. Estates are better in every way in my opinion.

I have a 2019 1.4TSI. It's pretty good, and easy to live with. Can get a road bike or gravel bike inside, upright with front wheel off and seatpost out. Only have to drop the 40 portion of the 60/40 split rear seat:

My new rigid 29er with Jones bars needs to go on the roof though

Not quite as big as the Octavia, comparing ours with a mates. Depends just how big you need it to be.

But a bit more involving to drive if that's your thing

I bought an 18plate Leon FR estate last year.
I went for the 150 diesel. I really wanted the 180 but there weren't many about.

What age are you looking at?
They were facelifted late 57/18 sort of time.
The newer version comes with a bigger screen, LED headlights, electronic handbrake & Android Auto/Apple Car Play.

I really like it. I've only done about 4.5k miles in it since last July. Had I known there was going to be such a large shift in commuting habits as a result of Covid I probably would have gone for a petrol.

Here's mine:

Looks like the sort of thing i'm after, not more than a couple of years, so willing to spend a bit. I did test drive the 1.5 petrol FR the other week and liked it. But i have a new job starting soon so may have to commute for the first few months so swinging towards the diesel.

Couldn't possibly say....🤪

Its very economical for those worrying about petrol. The very worst I'll get is about 27mpg if driven briskly on a windy road, but often 34mpg on a more regular run. Motorway it'll do about 40mpg!!

Above 25mpg is pretty achievable in a modern petrol IMHO. Even my old 3.0 BMW does a saintly 27mpg+

I'll have had mine for five years at the end of October. 2l, 150 diesel.

It's been great, I would have liked the 184 but just for the slightly better rear suspension.

No issues apart from one set of replacement front shocks and I've done maybe 55k in it? Front discs and pads done just this year

Had a Leon FR dsg a few years ago and absolutely loved it, great car and I still miss it. Great fun to drive and the gearbox was superb. We moved abroad so had to sell it but would have another tomorrow.

I wouldn't buy a diesel, however, having spent nearly 2000 euros replacing a DPF on another VW.

Had a petrol FR version and I'd have another apart from now having no need for one.

Totally irrelevant to the op’s question, but I use to have an Ibiza cupra r in bright yellow. It was a phenomenal little motor!

As mentioned above, that's the 150 diesel.

Yep I'm sold. Got a car finding service looking for one for me from Monday.
Can't decide between a diesel and petrol but the 2k for a DPF us a little scary. And I won't be able to drive into the centre of Birmingham.

Only if it's a pre 2015 diesel... Anything 2015 or later is exempt from low emission zone tax.

FWIW, my best mate has a 184ps Leon FR ST. He's done nearly 100k in it now over the 4yrs or so he's had it. It's been a very good car. I've driven it a couple of times, OK his has just about every optional extra fitted but even in more basic spec, a nice place to be. He typically gets around 58mpg commuting to work and back, about 52mpg if he's pressing on a bit. He hasn't had a single issue with the DPF, but then he does 25k miles a year and always runs it on BP Premium Diesel...

Oh, and seats folded flat, it's not quite as big inside as an Octavia Estate, but it's bigger inside than you'd think...
