You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So, Mrs HTO and I are hoping to get away by ourselves for a couple of days - no kids/dogs/elderly parents to worry about, just us riding, running, swimming and doing our own thing for 48-72 hours!
I'm looking for a REMOTE small cosy comfortable cottage/shack as close to the beach as possible. Like, on the shore/in the sand-dunes/top of a cliff, on the Yorkshire/Northumbria coast.
Anyone know of anything?
Done (a bit of) the usual searches on Cottages4U / Sykes Cottages etc but not found anything yet, and it's difficult to specify on their searches exactly what we want, without it returning 100's of results of places 'within 5 miles' of the coast.
So, figured STW must know of something ...

A few years ago we stayed in a cottage on the beach down a cliff and through a tunnel at Cove on the east coast of Scotland below Edinburgh.
Though I would strongly advise NOT taking the direct route down to the sea.
I'll share the wider Trinity House 'catalogue' though sadly out of scope because of geography once you've considered Whitby (above)

Stayed here for a long weekend a couple of years ago liked it a lot....... might or might not meet your definition of remote.

i came here to suggest the same, we stayed in October and it was perfect.
Cheers. Those Alnnouth shoreside huts look pretty spot on.
I did mean to add to my OP ... We'd also consider something remote shoreside somewhere in eg the Lakes.
Aunt paid £135,000 for one on a beach around the New Forest.
Not even allowed to overnight in it!
Have a look at National Trust, especially if you want remote and not near other people or need a pub nearby etc.
Several near Robin Hoods Bay on the cliff tops or on the coast
e.g. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/holidays/yorkshire/low-peak?origin=search
or Northumbria e.g. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/holidays/northumberland-north-east/risemoor?origin=search
or if you don't mind neighbours, what about Holy Island

Landmark trust have fisherman's cottages on the beach at berridale. Stunning spot but maybe too far north as it's not far from wick!
Kip Hideaways might be worth a look
If you want more of a pub/hotel stay then Marsden Grotto ticks a lot of those boxes.
We stayed in a friend of my sister's hut near Alnmouth and that was really nice too.
FYI the airbnb search function generally the best. It includes options for beach front and water front.
However never book without checking if the property is cheaper elsewhere where. It looks like some cottage’s companies put there stuff on Airbnb and in effect add the airbnb charges onto the price
