these guys are delivering seafood to your door ( In scotland) at something like wholesale prices - their usual market is gone - export and restaurants so they are doing home delivery.
Today a lobster, 5 scallops and a kilo of prawn tails. Last week 10 scallops and ten langustines! Makes up a bit for our regular seafood restaurant being shut
Yummy!
Wfh has brought to my attention the fish van that drops past on a friday afternoon, straight down from Pittenweem, half the price of the fancy fishmongers in town, it's brilliant!.
Thanks TJ - that looks great. I'll be ordering.

It's great that we are all finding new suppliers, I know I've found a few new ones, but I'm not sure that they are wholesale prices, £20 for a single lobster!!! Unless it's massive that's not what I would call cheap.
Its not as cheap as some but its not bad at all IMO. Maybe I am used to Edinburgh tax!
TJ - You may already know but Welch are still open down at Newhaven
Any other ideas on wholesale suppliers going retail right now?
I use Premier Seafoods for fresh/frozen fish and Alfred Enderby for smoked fish, both based in Grimsby and owned by really passionate people.
Nathan Godley at Premier - https://www.kingcrab.co.uk
Pat Salmon at Alfred Enderby - https://alfredenderby.co.uk
I've even been known to drive from Staffordshire just to buy their fish but they offer a mail order service.
Yummy in my tummy. Scallops with crispy bacon followed by lobster with salad and garlic bread.
Cheers. Large box of crustaceany bivalvey delights ordered. Looking forward to it...
Morrisons seem to be bashing out restaurant seafood at the moment.
Got a whole monkfish tail in no frills packing for £11.50/kg which is insanely cheap, near on giving it away. Tasted really good and fresh too.
Enjoy your scallops...
Hand / dived ( I think) I will check. Most of this small scale catch is hand dived
Enjoy your scallops…
Will go well with the pan seared foie gras starter...
Does anyone happen to know if swordfish is being sold or viable as last tine I checked it was listed as highly endangered
Shame as I can do great things with Swordfish steak and melted Leerdammer & asparagus's
Sweet Spanish onion gently caramelised
Mmmmmmmmm mmmm
At those prices I would be surprised if the scallops were hand-dived; dredging for them is massively damaging to the marine environment.
Much as I love scallops I always ask about provenance - if response is either of....dredged or don't know I don't buy; that applies to fresh or in restaurant.
As for swordfish, I believe it's off the endangered list; keep it simple - fry hot and quickly...3 mins each side at most.
👌exactly my man!👍
Hoping it's off endangered list as is superb as a treat every year or so
Yesyes savoured cough i mean devoured cough 🤣
They are dredged scallops. I didn't think they were. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Oh well
Its so long since I had any scallops that were not dived that I simply forgot to check. ~Thanks
Bump
For smoked salmon: Andy Race of Mallaig (£36kg)

SEAFOOD Y'AAAAAAAAALL?!?
🙂

Quality selfie proving a point that peperami is not to good for people who eat that crap
Seafood will always outdo any junk
Post re-trawl (ahem) - off a wee pedal to Troon shortly, as the local boats are getting not very much per box at market, one has started selling at a stall straight off the boat, tenner a kilo of langoustines, get in ma belly. 🙂
I attended the wee hurrie for fritto misto last week. 70 mile found trip on the good bike v much worth it.😋

Because it’s STW:

@merak aye the Wee hurrie is fab, love frito misto, battered monkfish is awesome too.
Nobeer - oh yes; they look great - and fresh off the boat!
They look amazing matey, enjoy.
We always say that there's not the demand here, that's why these usually bugger off to the continent. I wonder if that's cos we don't really sell them locally? Fella said he sold out of his 150kg of scallops in 30 mins, kilo bags of langys flying off the stall, probably 50 folk in queue when I left....
Do you think they’ll deliver as far as Brighton?
While we’re on the subject of seafood have any of you ever eaten “Hoi Lai”? It’s a Thai shellfish dish - a type of clam I think - and it’s just about the tastiest thing I’ve ever eaten.
