Off to Copenhagen with my girlfriend for a couple of nights in the next few weeks.
Was wanting to book a nice restaurant for dinner before we fly home.
As STW is the font of knowledge, I thought I'd ask you all.
Girlfriend is pescetarian, so seafood would work well.
Our flight home is at 10pm, so the plan is to eat before goign to the airport. So somewhere near the ...em, transport link?... (I haven't looked how you get too and from the airport yet) would be good.
Somewhere nice but reasonably affordable - not more than £100 for some food and wine for the pair of us.
Thanks!
We thought this was pretty cool when we were in Copenhagen: https://illum.dk/food/skagen-fiskerestaurant/
If you love great design, have a look around the Illums Bolighus shop before your meal.
From memory on the transport links, much of the Metro system runs to the airport by default - might have to swap tracks but that's about it. By the opera house, Christianshaven, and Nyhaven across the bridge, are a load of fancy and also street food places to eat. [ this from flying visits a year ago when son was studying at DTU ] that said be sure to check prices - said son and I wandered to some normal ish looking outdoor warehouse area - Kalved Brygge I think - last night out in Copenhagen, sat down, menu was brought -- £75 for a plain meat dish -- we scarpered sharp...
From what I remember the airport was not that far from the city centre ... perhaps a 20 euro (or whatever that is in Danish Crowns).
It is not a cheap place ... food and alcohol are premiumly priced ... and I won't suggest Noma.
Food standars are generally good ... there is a harbour / wharf area and I have eaten there a few times. And seafood / fish is a bit of a Scandi thing so you will be ok...
As a Copenhagen resident, but non fish eater I only feel partly qualified to help but I've heard good things about Kødbyens Fiskebar. It is a shortish walk from the central station, through some fairly 'interesting' areas. It's in the old meat halls area which is now very hip.
You can catch a train direct from the central station every 20mins or less and takes about 15 mins. Standard 3 zone ticket, one of the few cheap things here is getting to the airport.
Another vote for Kødbyens Fiskebar - went there in October, really good. As Chilli says the area between the station and the meat packing area where the restaurants are is interesting in a slightly run down - are you sure there are any food places down here? kind of way
Kødbyens Fiskebar was recommended to us also, but sadly we failed to get a table. Can definitely recommend the area of the old meatpacking district that it is in, lots of good bars and restaurants..
Ok, thanks for the tips guys - something for us to check out.
We're staying in Vesterbro. Got a nice hotel for a reasonable price. Going to see my pals' band play on part of the tour.
Was also thinking about bars - probably check out Warpigs and Mikeller
Bars- One of the many Mikkeler ones for sure, only go to Warpigs if your pescitarian girlfriend is fine being surrounded by all the meat. My favourite of their bars was the one on Viktoriagade, which I think is the original, really nice little bar, good mix of people, not pretentious in any way.
Also highly recommend Brus up in Nørrebro, which is the ToØl brewpub, also it's just over the road from Baest, which is quite possibly some of the best pizza I have eaten anywhere in the world.
