Following on from this thread, decided to do it camping for more flexibility, fun, and discomfort.
I've strung together some likely looking spots until we leave Skye - looking for somewhere around the Morar / Arisaig area next.
The beaches look amazing around there so would be keen to camp near one of those, on the cost. However it also looks generally quite busy around there - I guess because of the beaches!!
Seems like it might be a bot of a piss take to camp on the beach around there?
Also if there are any recommended proper campsites around there I'd be interested also.
cheers!
Given that the area is a line of campsites then yes, I would count it as "taking the piss". Doesn't stop a lot of folk parking up at Toigal (just south of the R Morar) and then camping, but then I'd not camp there as it's likely to be a bit of a cesspit.
I like the site at Camusdarach. You can walk along to Bens Beach.
When are you going? Peak holiday time is often mobbed
If you're bike packing, as mentioned in the other thread, I wouldn't plan camp spots in advance. That's part of the point of wild camping, you go as far as you feel like then start looking for somewhere. I've mostly camped from a kayak, and there must be much more choice on a bike.
Spent a bit of time in this area and this beach is usually much quieter than most. Local kids have been known to wild camp here, and leave their crap behind! Lovely spot and a bit away from the road.
Great thanks for the tips all
