You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Off up there tomorrow on a week's Rail sightseeing trip around the Highlands. It occurred to me that as the current guidelines / regs state no more than 15 people in a group and there will be 18 in ours would we be technically breaking the law?
Meeting people outdoors
If meeting socially outdoors (for example in a park, your garden or a sitting outside a pub, café or restaurant):
up to 5 households can meet at a time, up to 15 people in total
do not meet more than 4 other households per day, except for under 18s who do not need to observe this daily limit
stay 2 metres apart from people outside your household, except for under 12s who do not need to distance from anyone
So, certainly against the guidelines. Not sure where the legislation currently stands.
Yes you can and should be fined.
Assuming the time of year (schools back) and your username I'm guessing this is not a group of 18 comprising 5 or less large family groups but all couples/singles. So many more than 5 households?
Would seem a mental thing to have organised currently.....
I have been questioning it but apparently all being done with our safety in mind? Run by Great Rail Journeys booked beginning of the year
Tour guide said as we aren't sitting together for meals or on the trains we are ok
Maybe should have checked the regs before booking the trip eh.
Edit: just seen later posts. The company are at it IMO, but hey everyone else is flouting the rules too, so.......
Are you getting together for tours off the train?
It'll be you that's fined, not the tour guide 😁
TBF, it's not exactly clear. Events (of a sort) are going ahead. There is a triathlon happening near us in a couple of weeks that has been tweaked to avoid a mass start but it will still involve more than 15 folk from more than 3 households.

Aye the wife was supposed to be doing that but has knocked it on the head. We can't understand how on earth they're allowed to carry on 🤔

Because sportscotland on behalf of the Scottish government have agreed various protocols and mitigations to (1) reduce the risk; (2) to ensure that if there does turn out to be infection all those who might be contacts are easily traced.

Is that a GROUP of 18 - or (for example) 9 pairs of independent travellers who all happen to be booked on the same journeys etc? I'm not suggesting that people pretend not to know each other if they do. Now if there is some sort of "guide" involved and he'll be corralling you then its difficult ground - although I've not checked the rules for tourist attractions and some stuff like that is definitely back open. In rural areas I'm not sure how easy it would be to have say 9 socially distanced bubbles (2m between them) without shouting (which is covid bad).

Yeah, I've read through the procedures and changes they're making. Seems like it should be enough. I'll be adopting most of them for the Cairngorms Loop group start in 12th Sept. It's only 15-20 folk but it seems sensible to comply.

Probably still safer than going to a pub to be fair 😉
I’ve consulted my son who is rather good at maths and he’s come back after some extensive calculations and tells me that 18 is in fact 3 more than 15. 😊
As long as it's not the borders rumour has it that a few more cases will lead to a local lock down.
