Today's the day, Hoppy Jr got his place confirmed for primary school at his 1st choice which is good as if means we can walk/ride there and back. The schools got a big bike shed too which is even better.
More space for him to hide behind while having a fag?
Or chasing girls.
Or boys
Looking forward to opening the letter after work, though im not holding out much hope for our first choice as our village primary is oversubscribed.
got 2nd choice but its a better school than 1st choice.
downside is its 10 mile round trip rather than walking distance.
We got our 3rd choice which we're not unhappy about as it supposedly a good school with small classes, quite surprised to get it as its normally oversubscribed.
Only downside is its about a 10minute drive, whereas the 1st and 2nd choices are both in walking distance.
One negative is he is currently attending the nursery at our 1st choice school(which is also the nearest but oversubscribed) and thought that may go in his favour but apparently not so will have to make new friends.
Got our first choice, but all the schools round us seem good. A heated outdoor pool which parents can use never affected our choice, oh no. Only in Surrey.
cannot remember either of my username or password 😆
No letter arrived here despite it being posted Friday apparently. Another day wondering if we will be cycling along the canal to school or driving.
Let's hope it's not a catholic school.
Got our first choice which is about a 5 minute walk.
Now just got to figure out how we manage to continue work with schools having such a short day. What are people doing, one parent at home, proper part time work around school hours, family, after school clubs? There seems to be a disconnect from providing help with nursery care to get people back into work that then goes backwards when they start school unless they have wrap around care which our doesn't.
I work from home and Mrs hoppy works part time, at the moment she does 3 full days but will probably change to 5 days 9-3 term time only come September.
Between that we should be able to cope with most stuff and if not the MIL is round the corner (and bend). But it's not the easiest balancing act, were in a very fortunate position.
We use a childminder, who lives ten doors up the road, three afternoons a week.
School hours do seem a right throwback to the days of stay at home parents. We'll probably need to use some after school clubs and try and get some flexibility in working hours.
Got our first choice here which is a bit of a surprise. Second choice would have been a lot more convenient but think first choice will be a better school for blobby jr.
We got third choice - not a bad school and only 1.5 miles away from our door.
I was expecting a much longer commute so not too upset if we don't win the appeal.
My missus on the other hand is threatening direct action and may be voting ukip in the next election.
That last bit was a joke - she is quite upset though.
Regarding the after school care - hopefully I will be permitted to do permanent early shift and then we will be rich!!!!ha ha.
First choice, good school in a good area. Should be a way in for his Sister too now.
I know life is a long road with many twists and turns but it's an important start.
Good luck to those appealing.
