After some fun high speed road bike silliness. I went otb on the flat at about 15kmph. Outstretched arm crunchiness and pain.
That was a week ago, got back from France Sunday, in plaster Monday.
Question is should it still hurt? Sometime dull, sometimes quite sharp always in the area the original pain was in.
I miss my bike 🙁
You've broken a bone, in my experience they hurt constantly until they're healed, and then ache whenever it's cold after that.
Yup. Sore and weak for about 6-8 weeks.
Make sure you get proper after-care to confirm it has healed properly otherwise you might end up with a non-union fracture like I have. Having said that, mine hasn't stopped me doing anything in the last 15 years, though it does ache a bit at times.
Sadly another one I have broken, takes ages to heal, as already mentioned make sure it has healed.
Something about that bone having a poor blood supply or something so healing is long winded.
broke mine a few years ago and still have the ti pin in the bone - guess where my forum name comes from?
yes expect pain, the wrist is the one place where there are many many nerves going to your hands, so will be painful.
8-12 weeks for bone fix. expect and complete the physio. if you want to maintain fitness, sit on a turbo trainer and spin. I was riding as soon as the plaster came off but it took a few more weeks before I could do much but ride on the road, then the pain faded and eventually back to normal.
Enjoy.
Sorry I have some bad news, mine still gives me gyp 26 years later, not debilitating but I occasionally get sharp pains and will drop stuff if I rotate my wrist in a certain way.
In balance for pigface I too broke my scafoid 26 years ago (snap!) and I can't recall the last time it gave me gyp. Unlike the humerous which I did 10 years ago.
Although it did give me some minor gyp for a couple of years after.
Just trying to bring some balance 😀
Unlucky. It's not all doom and gloom though:

Oh, and on the continuing pain - mine went away after a couple of weeks in plaster, and then came back again after they reset it in a different position.

Yes, as I recall there was a painful incident around that time (I'll ot elaborate as to do so might make it worse!)...
I should qualify by saying mine wasnt picked up at the time, I managed to break opposite corners, left ankle and right scafoid. I couldnt use crutches and by the time they had a good look at it it was to late.
I fractured my Scaphoid on the 23rd June when I came off the DH bike and I am still in a cast, I spent 10 days in a splint before they put me in said cast, I was told to go back to the hospital last Thursday to have the cast removed, once I arrived I was told I shouldn't have been told to return and that I have to spend another 2 weeks in a cast. The bad news is, if it still broken then I may have another 6 weeks : ( My advice would be go the hospital and they will press right in the hollow bit at the base of the thumb where it meets the wrist, if it makes you scream like a big girl, you have broken it!
Good luck 🙁
A week? I did mine slightly more recently than ti_pin_man and metalheart (only 25 years ago) and I still sometimes notice it. Mind you I never had any metalwork in mine, nor has it ever actually healed properly (mainly down to not realising I'd broken it at the time).
Have they confirmed it is broken. I was in plaster for 2 weeks following the first x-ray, but on the second x-ray after 2 weeks they said it was not fractured. Still hurts, after now about 5 weeks, but they said I could ride if I took it easy.
Broke mine a few years ago. Hand out bike accident. Went to casualty and told after xray it wasn't broken. Week a back later after constant pain and some googling. Another xray and oh sorry we missed it. After two months in plaster I went back to be told another month to make sure and lessen the chance of any recurring problems, which I haven't had. As was said it has a poor blood supply and sometimes people need a bone graft. In the U.S. they do a bone scan which shows it up straight away rather than get sued for misdiagnosis.
Pressure was painful. Although I managed to drive from Dijon to Scottish Borders. Xray was inconclusive but definitely not as it should be. Orthopedic trauma clinic in 10 days. Breaking turbo and sufferfest out.
