It's raining, wet, cold and its not even winter.. Who's getting the Scalextric out!?

We had this in our living room for a month, was great fun when the lads came round... Big boys toys, no kids allowed!
Friend brought round his Scalextric, I didn't know they had updated it from the early 90's! Having a lap timer has brought a new lease of life into the game!

Took it all down a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned it to some other friends, and they have loads too, I can feel another Scalextric track coming on when the evenings get dark!

Started with this...

After some more searching in my mum's loft, we made this...

on Saturday afternoon. The idea is for that it is for my son and nephew, but me and my brother in law are very excited.

Going to have to move some furniture though as it is 22' long!

Is it sad that I instantly recognized that track, HtS?

(It was a question on University Challenge this week too...)

a friend sets a track up every year around xmas time with his sort-of-step-dad... they've got well over 60ft of track that they build through various rooms in the house. tis a bit rediculous, but fun 😀

Can you make the final chicane sharper?

Then it would be perfect, I reckon you should have a go at the nordschleife next 😉

I do too. 😳 Sadly, I can tell a lot of tracks from photo's of corners as well.

Will you be able to get the cars sideways out of spoon curve?

With a 3 and a 5 year old I suspect they will be upside down in the spoon curve.

A load of shoddy plastic scalextric gear in the vague shape of Suzuka has a long way to go before it competes with this!

Suzuka Scalextric style! Track shortened due to lack of available space.

The boys loved it. The dads didn't get to have a go. 😕

I think i'd be disappointed if i'd paid £70 to watch 2 plastic cyclists wizz round in circles. They could at least throw in a durney bike.

I dug this out from the parents a few months back after nearly 20yrs. Complete git to try and get it working, track contacts, tyres gone off. Good excuse to buy some new 4wd rally cars though 😆

And yes, thats the proper size Scalextric with a loop-the-loop 8) 😀

I made this a few years ago....

[img] [/img]
[img] [/img]
[img] [/img]
[img] [/img]

Sheet of MDF,Copper tape,Scrap timber,Textured Paint,Newspaper, expanding foam and a Router.I used a traditional power source and run the copper foil over it to get the power...........

The copper tape is used in glass and is cheap to buy.....

It was pretty easy TBH and was fantastic fun.... Great having kids!!
