Some of STW's big hitters will be relieved by Gregg's stockpiling pork for their sausage rolls - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-49890034 - what about beef for their steak bakes????
Someone please drag me back to the nineties and let me die there.
The future was over-rated and under-delivered.
...the Guardian covered the story:
Greggs, the high street bakery chain, said on Tuesday it is taking steps to build up stocks of key ingredients and equipment that could be affected.
It has rented warehouse space and will begin stockpiling some longer-life products sourced from Europe, such as bacon and tuna. It has also begun sourcing all its cheese and most of its sugar in the UK to avoid potential disruption.
I was heartened to read in the middle of an article that covered the UK PMI (Purchasing Managers Index) still remains below 50% despite renewed stockpiling...a leading indicator of economic downturn...but all is ok as people will still be able to purchase their favourite snack from Greggs...an interesting measure of what is really important in 2019
not so much over-rated and under-delivered as under-whelming

I'm sure the shareholders and employees of Greggs would disagree. Its not so much keeping sausage rolls on the counter, its having something to sell so the business doesn't go under a few weeks after Brexit.
If post-Brexit we adopt WTO rules for trading food then meat is off the menu for me. I don't think I'd find bleach or growth hormones very appetising and I don't aspire to a Trump-type burger belly.
Don't go there anymore since discovering the heir to the Greggs empire is a convicted paedophile. Also quite worrying that their sausage rolls are only 20% pork. What the hell else is in there?
What the hell else is in there?
Erm, pastry?
It's an obvious thing to do and neeed to be a national priority.
The British people may have got through the blitz, but they didn't do it without sausage rolls. They were personally delivered to the air raid shelters by Winston Churchill and the Queen Mother (bless 'er) herself

guess 23,000 jobs in a business dedicated to the best in food on the go are important to the individuals but as far as I'm aware no economic policies seem to invoke sausage roll incubators as a way to achieve sustainable growth or is "belt and road" rhyming slang for "toad in the hole"? .... pretty sure that when Harold Wilson* gave his 1963 conference speech....
" telling his audience that if the country was to prosper, a "new Britain" would need to be forged in the "white heat" of a scientific revolution."
the vision wasn't on an economy based on take away food

They could replace them all with vegan sausage rolls. Just to annoy the gammons...
So Greggs are ready for the wurst?
20% pork eh luxury. There's plenty of horses in that race to trump it!
Will go well with the national loaf, dripping, tripe, spam and corn beef.
The best thing that could happen to Gregg's is a venture capital take over. Then the quality will go through the roof and everything will be brillianttttttttttttttttttttt.
The the price of jam will be the same too. But non hormone riddled beef will go up by 83%. So, it's jam & sausage rolls for the rest of time then.
jam tomorrow get that and its a very appropriate reference but sausage rolls more a big crunch scenario time will tell
what about
beefdog food for their steak bakes????
