We struggled with a boys name. We had a girls name planned (we didn't know what sex our little one would be...) but couldn't quite get our heads around a boys name. I liked Peregrine or Stanley but the wife thought I was losing it...!

I frequently had to get people to clarify the spelling of their name when I taught in Australia, but that was for other reasons e.g. 'Pertricia' Also the more unusual spellings and newly formed double-barreled names often signalled the opposite to what was intended by the parents.
