I am trying to get french tv . so far I have :
a sky type dish
a fransat receiver with the card
all cables and connectors .
I have installed the dish and connected it all but the receiver cant get a signal .
I have aligned the dish with the help of an ipad app and a compass .
the LNB is a quad , and is on position 1 . I have conected the cable to position 1 too .
before I go and buy a satellie finder , anyone know what I am doing wrong ?
satellite i need to find is astra 5 , 5 degree west .
thanks
Without a sat finder or equivalent instrument you will have a hard time finding and fine tuning a foreign satellite signal.I live in Italy and install dishes for foreign customers.to get a general direction, elevation and LNB skew use www.dishpointer.com. i am sure people will say they just pointed theirs and got the signal but if you want a good signal that doesn't dissapear at the first sign or rain it need to be fine tuned with an instrument also if you live up north you made a decent size dish not a small sky dish. i have never tried to pick up this satellite so am not to sure on dish sizes.
Ben
