Has scored more than 12,000 runs at 58 a higher average than Ponting, Tendulkar etc bt also Sir Viv and many of the greats. Unbelievable career.
He also kept wicket in more than a third of his matches. Wicketkeepers almost always have lower averages than their teammates who just have to bat (de Villiers and Flower being the possible exceptions, with a higher average when keeping than not and higher average than their teammates when keeping, but it's not normal). In matches when he's not kept his average is almost 70, with just the Don ahead of him. He currently holds the record for fastest to 9000 runs, taking 172 innings, but he's only taken 143 innings in 82 matches to score 9000 runs when not keeping.
Absolutely underrated player IMO - he is a run machine. And seems like a good chap to boot.
