Samsung S10e -> S24 ... worth it?

Pondering chopping in my trusty S10e for an s24.

I love the S10e form factor, but it's now out of support. Also the battery has always been a bit rubbish.

All I'm really looking for, is a phone which does everything my S10e does, but in support, better battery, and a great camera. I also really want a Samsung S series as Dex is a fantastic tool when on holiday away from home and needing a full desktop experience occasionally.

I had my head turned by my friend's s24 ultra - it took some fantastic photos in low light conditions. Certainly leagues better than my S10e.

However a few reviews online reckon the s24 is only a fairly marginal step up in photography performance other than in low light.

I don't want the s24 ultra or plus because they're too big.

Any views on this from anyone? Anyone gone from S10e to s24 and what did you think?

Edit: I don't do any gaming or video/photo editing, so out and out performance not really a major factor in anything.

Went from a 10E to a 23, and yes, worth it

My only worry with the S24 is it's Samsung's own processor in the UK rather than a Qualcomm. My S22 was the same, and the performance is worse than the Qualcomm versions they sold elsewhere.

Not seen any bad reviews though - but I'd also look if there were any deals on the S23 as that is Qualcomm and is getting the same software updates including the new AI stuff.

I miss my S10e. Replaced it with an S20 as the battery was really starting to become gash. I'd be tempted by another comparable Samsung if they stopped with the weekly software downdates and brought back the headphone jack.

Not what you asked but I went S10 to S23 and am really happy with it. Latest update last week introduced the "AI" stuff if you're interested in that. The only thing I've used is the search by circling what's on the screen, that's actually really cool and pretty handy. Was watching a YouTube video and saw someone wearing a t-shirt I liked, hold middle button then circle the t-shirt and Google tells me what it is straight away.

Only thing to add, I do feel like there has been a drop off in battery performance since the update but I could be imaging it. Battery used to be really good as phone was new in December, no feels like it drops charge a bit quicker

@fossy. - how are you finding it? I have a 4 year old S20fe and am waiting for a used S22 Ultra from Reboxed to be delivered. Like el_boufador I really want better battery life and camera so I suspect a used phone might not have been the wisest choice but trying to be a tiny bit more eco. Also North of a grand for a phone is mental! Will see what it's like when it turns up.

Camera on the S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra's are way better than the S20FE (which was fab). Better zoom S23 being slightly better on 10x optical zoom than the s22.

Thanks all, think I will probably go for it. Seems worthwhile.
S10e is *such* a good phone though. I'll be a bit sad.

The other factor in the S24's favour is that all S24 variants are coming eith a free S6 Lite (2024) tablet.

Has anybody tried riding a bike with the S24 on a chest mount? is the stabilization good enough for not too bumpy singletrack?

thanks
