Hi,
I've just bought a new Samsung sound bar as my tv speakers are bloody awful.
I have to connect via cable as the tv has no bluetooth or wireless.
There's around a one second delay in mouths moving on the screen and sound coming out. Everything looks like a badly dubbed karate movie from the 70's.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
You should be able to set time shift on audio in the TV, but that depends what TV you have
if it's a samsung tv:
menu
sound
additional settings
if you're on sky there's a way to set delay in there, too
(NB tvs sometimes take longer to process HD pictures, so different channels might need different delays. If neither of the above is possible, some tvs can set the picture to game mode where the image processing is reduced and that can speed it up a bit)
It's a Panasonic, about 5 years old.
I've looked everywhere in the menu and can't find anything
Thanks anyway.
What cable is it?
What cable is it?
Gold plated? 😈
It's the cable supplied with the sound bar. It's coming from the audio out ports on the tv - the red and white ones.
Hmm. Odd.
Is there a HDMI connection on it you could use? Needs to go to a HDMI port on the telly which provides ARC (might well be labelled up as such).
I've just googled the model number. Seems there's an Optical input on it. Is there an Optical Out on your TV? Do you know someone who could lend you a TOSlink cable?
Also,
There's an "audio sync" function on the soundbar's remote. Frob that.
No optical out but has HDMI. I'll go and buy one tomorrow.
About to say use the remote for the 'audio sync' or buy a nice new Samsung and connect it wirelessly.

According to that manual ^^ there's no HDMI connection on the soundbar, so that won't work.
Is there really no digital out on the TV? What model is it?
It's a TX-L26X10B
Sorry for being a bit slow answering but I was in my german class.
You could get a 300km long cable connecting the TV to the soundbar, for about a second's worth of delay on the audio path to cancel out the problem?
Far as I can tell, unless you've other equipment such as an amp or set-top box in the equation, your only connectivity option here (looking at manuals for both) is the cable you've already got.
Did you try the Audio Sync on the soundbar?
Cougar,
you are a star. I didn't get an instruction manual as it's second hand.
I missed Audio sync while looking online.
Many thanks.
