Or are you all waiting for it in blue?

Its probably ace but I am more interested in how much it hits the value of the s2 as that seems to everything already.

Serious post. I woulnt touch anything apple. Maybe it happens but I dont hear about company workers commiting suicide at other companies but it does happen at apples affiliate manufacturer.

Then there was my bitter experience with faulty ipods and apples belated admission about faulty batteries on these. Sansung or Blackberry ta.

I had a play on the s3 this aft. I LIKE.

Hora and you forgot to mention how the iphone 4 didn't work unless you bought a protective case for it!!

they Samsung is billed as THE best phone on the market Roach by all the techie geeks that test them so you lose! As already said I'd like to see how much the S2 comes down by as 9th July I'm in the market for a new phone, trying to decide whether to go SIm only or upgrade.

You do realise that Foxconn manufacture for other companies as well as Apple? Including: Dell, Microsoft, Sony, Amazon and Samsung.

LOL @ Hora making comments on people being easily led into a retail "experience"!

Had an S and an S2, S3 just doesn't blow my socks off TBH, although its maybe not a better phone I might be swayed by the One X, HTC seem to have found their mojo again. iphone 4s is a spectacular piece of kit, just not really a fan of it.

S3 is a big unit - the S2 is a very big unit and the S3 is bigger. I'm an S2 user and I really like it...to be honest though, smartphones are pretty much all the same these days...the Whyphone appears to be just as good (although it does need charged far more frequently than my S2 - wife has the Whyphone and it's constantly on charge).

The S3 appears to be pretty much the same as the S2 but comes with ICS as standard, I think the front camera is HD-capable, it is a quad-core processor and has a barometer (apart from the larger form-factor), it appears to do the same as the S2 BUT due to the quad-core, the talk-time won't be as good as it will eat more battery.

Currently, I'm getting about 2.5 days between charges - if I can stay off the wifi and data connection, I can get almost 4 days (and if I put it in flight mode for nights then it's almost 6 days) - thing is, it isn't really designed for that kind of use and I'm happy with my 2.5 days between charges.

If I had to go back to charging every night I'd get wound up.

The S3 looks very nice, but I'm not sure it does anything that my S2 can't do for me so I'm not seeing the benefit to it.

I'm sure it'll be a very fast and capable device but unless you wanted the bleeding edge of phone technology and accepted the very large form factor, then there isn't really any benefit over the S2.

My view, of course, and you are perfectly entitled to have an incorrect opinion of your own! 😉

I'll be interested to hear real life battery figures for the S3, on paper it should be better than the OneX which is balls.

Charging every night doesn't really bother me as the charger lives by the bad.

So long as it has the juice for a good day with Wifi and GPS then I'll be happy

Been playing with one for a week or so (been designing for ICS). They're a bit too big, battery lasts an age, they're a bit plasticy but nice and quick. Videos look great on them. Wouldn't buy one personally - not an Android fan.

1,000,000 workers, 17 suicides according to wired: http://www.wired.com/magazine/2011/02/ff_joelinchina/all/1 Wikipedia is more conservative at 230k–450k employees.

Drastically lower suicide rate than the national average of most countries including China itself. Am I missing something or are Foxconn employees some of the least suicidal in China?

Ignorance or a poor troll, I take it you've never touched anything made by:

Charging daily is a personal thing...for me it's an annoyance as it means I'm needing to be near a power point every day...weekends away camping or in the sticks with no power kind of throws the use of a mobile device out the window if it needs charged daily.

Just my view but having enough juice in it for 2 days use makes more of a selling point to me...

I agree with DB sadly. My Blackberry was annoying enough. Sadly my other potential choice the HTC One X has a bad (worse?) battery rep.

Anyone know if the OneX has an alloy case, like the DesireHD ?
The S3 seemed very plasticky. Great screen though.
Not sure if either offer much over the DesireHD I have now...

If I go away with no charging point the works BlackBerry comes with me. That can go for days. My DesireHD won't go a day if I'm using WiFi & / or GPS.

Avoid the One X. I had three of them in a row from three. Couldn't get a decent signal, or anything at all at home. I went for the S for the 4th handset, far superior in every way. Much easier to handle screen just as good. Great battery life, I could kill the one X in 2.5 hours ffs! It also feels really plasticy and fragile, I was scared to death of dropping it as it had virtually no screen protection.
The S is basically the same phone, just less memory. Has a better shell, brilliant battery life fire a phone of It's type, I don't notice any difference in speed, camera is the same too.

From someone who has used both back to back for a few weeks, the S is much better

Its worth taking a look at the Nokia Lumia 900(or Lumia 800 if you prefer a smaller form factor) as a left field choice.
Have previously owned a HTC android phone which I was pretty happy with, but the Nokia Lumia is a much smoother/slicker device.

OK it doesnt have 500,000 apps available for it,but lets be honest a large portion are just duplicates of another App with the same function.
There are loads of apps available for Windows Phone now with most of the popular Jesusphone/Android ones ported over.

Have been using a Lumia 800 for about 6weeks now and well impressed with it.

How are you lot getting on with the S3?
Its top of my list following the recent price drop but my main worry is its size and fitting in bike jersey pockets etc

Any recs for a decent case to protect it whilst out biking too?

And anything else to say while youre at it?

cheers fellas

I like mine. I changed from an iphone4 and don't miss it at all. The only thing that annoyed me was exporting my contacts - apple don't let you save your contacts to your sim card as heaven forbid that you would change to anything else. The camera is much better and i love the bigger screen, it does mean the phone is bigger but I started to feel that the iphone was too small. All the android customisation is good too, plenty of options to play with.

I don't use a case in general but for riding I keep it in my pack, in a seal skinz waterproof glove - just in case!

Saving to SIM went out in 1927. A SIM cannot hold the volume of data from a modern Smartphone, it's not an Apple restriction it's a limitation of the tech.

The way to do it is to sync with something else (Outlook or Google) and then sync back from there.

Tried it. Didn't work. Had to use an app to email them to myself. I didn't want to store all my music etc on the sim, just my contacts. I can still do it on my work blackberry so it can't be a technology limitation.

Hi looking at getting one of these for my upgrade. Just wondering how is the music quality? My ipod touch died and was considering the Iphone 4s. But as a current android user i much prefer it. Current phone LG Optimus 2X is not as good as my ipod touch for music quality with the same headphlnes

I don't buy the battery doesn't last long enough argument for any phone.

I have a 4 it lasts a full day on whatever I'm doing with it, if I don't use it much then it'll last 2-3 days on standby easily. I charge it at night whilst I'm asleep anyway. If I'm camping etc. I have a 12v charger for the car or use the 240v socket in my camper. If I'm in a hotel I plug it in at night.

I'd been looking at the Galaxy and Htc as replacements but they feel too plastic to me after the Apple.

I actually like Apple customer care, I did something stupid with my phone and damaged it badly, took it back to them 2 years old and way out of warranty, paid £119 and got a brand new phone.

I have lots of friends with Samsung's and they seem happy with them, I'm happy with the iPhone. we still get on, they're only phones! (albeit complicated ones)

I agree Blazing-saddles , there aren't many phones I haven't tried and they all have their strengths and weaknesses but I ended up back with Apple again as the construction doesn't feel like a child's pretend first phone .

I like mine and the battery has never died but I do charge it up every night.

Sound's great as is the camera. I just wish it was slighlty slimmer as reaching to the bottom left hand side of the screen with your thumb to do text's is a bit of a stretch.

9/10 from me

I've had iPhone 4 and 4s. But also had S2, Note and S3. Prefer the Galaxy's though. The Note and S3 are brilliant!

Like a few others on here i've changed from an Iphone 4 to the Galaxy S3. Impressed with it so far and the battery life is far better than the Iphone.

When I got the S3 I plugged it in to my laptop and downloaded an official Samsung programme called 'easy phone sync'. This recoginised that I had an itunes account so providing you've done a recent back up of your Iphone with all your contacts, easy phone sync will find them and sync all your contacts, calendars, notes etc to the S3. You can also use this to extract Itunes libraries and playlists.

I'm a lover not a fighter so I love it.
To be fair I came along from a GalaxyS having chosen to steer away from iPhones. I've found the sync with google simple, battery life far exceeds the GS (I can get 2 days out of if even playing music, but streaming stuff means it runs down much quicker) Music quality is most excellent and if you load the PowerAmp app it's just amazing. The camera is very good indeed and I'm glad it has a flash now (the GS didn't) I find the UI instinctive.
The only thing I find annoying (and I've seen this on the tube whilst looking over the shoulders of folk with them) is if you double click the "home" button the darn "speech" search thingumybob comes up.. Most annoying as you have to kill it.
I carry mine biking, I use a rather stretched iPhone sock and then put it in a small sandwich bag that seals up. It is larger than the GS yes, but so far I've not found it intrusive at all and I love the large screen.
Back tot he battery.. I stream a lot of music off Soundcloud and I can nerf the battery in a day if I play continuous, but for the short hour long streams I can still get a day and a half out of it.
I've bought an extra microSD with 16G on it so I can carry more "sounds" and photos, so far I've not eaten into 1/4 of the phones memory and I've loaded loadsa stuff.

Me Likee, me likee a lot.

Only main grip is I'm with 3 and the service reception in central London is dire for streaming and the area of the South Downs I ride in it's none existent.. Which is rather pants.

EDIT:
One more thing, Kies, it's pants. I've stopped using the main app and use the wifi one as it's much simpler and loads much easier, also I just transfer stuff via the "explorer" file menu/tree as again it's much easier than that hulking lump that is Kies.
