You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I hope the good folk here can help, you nearly always do!
My Dad (84) has had a new phone purchased for him by my brother. Samsung A26.
Dad has not used the phone, and has forgotten the correct PIN.
I need to do a factory reset, as all other options are not possible. Not connected to a samsung account, so cant reset it through that, and it can't be found over the network as it was set up without the SIM card in it, so not registered on the device/mobile network, so can't find the phone through the google account. Not connected to any Wifi.
All sources tell me to power off using the Power and Volume down button, which works. Then to restart with Power and Volume up to acess Recovery mode. However, the phone immediately restarts, doesn't power off completely, and powers up normally. No chance to reboot from cold with Power/Volume up.
Only option may be to wait for a few days until the battery drains. It's at 40%, and sitting just in a Standy-by mode, this will take a long time.
Anybody know how to make the phone shut down without an instant re-boot?
Keep trying.  When ever ive tried to get phones into recovery mode (way back when I had a HTC Desire I rooted it several times so got well used to this) it seems tricky.  Some you can hold the volume then press the power, some seem to need the two pressed AT EXACTLY the same time....so try different approachesÂ
Can a phone repair shop remove the battery for you ?Â
It's an option, but last resort. Will probably just leave a couple of days and see how battery is draining.

For Samsung's they need to be plugged into a computer (another phone will do) to trigger recovery mode.Â
Glad it worked 👍Â
