Anyone else on here at this time of year stand for ages cutting up tomatoes removing the seeds/juice, chillis, coriander, squeez of a lime, a red onionĀ
Season to taste, sometimes I chop up some garlic and then enjoy
The 🍅 is only really good for a few months here
The first time I tried salsa (dip, to be clear) was on the stand of Salsa cycles, served by Ross Scahfer himself. #humblebrag
@MCTD - wrong!Ā
One of the things where shop bought, no matter how good, is no match for home made.
Removing the seeds? Pourquoi?
Too much water so remove the seeds n watery stuff, the thick bit at the stem has to be removed and as for coriander I love the stuff in my curry or salsa so loads goes inĀ
Definitely needs salt too
Maybe I'm a heathen, but if it's too watery I'd just gently heat it in a pan it to reduce it down a bit.
Chuck the seeds in the chilli. Or the refried beans.
Its only wasteful if you waste it.
Its not much of a faff.Ā
I make everything for mexican food right down to home made tortillas.
Adding pineapple or charred corn, raddishes or green tomatoes for a little more pizzazz

Religious tendencies aside, you'd then not have salsa but would have chili/tomato sauce, in my atheist opinion. šĀ

😀Salsa just means sauce. I supose you could call a 'sauce' a 'dip' depending on the size of the recepitcle it's served in?Ā
Ā
Salsa can be hot or cold, cooked or not. Actually I think it means sauce in Spanish?
Nothing deserves to be ruined with corianderĀ
Get out of here. It's great stuff. One of my current faves is finely sliced red onion, a generous grind of salt and pepper, pour over some balsamic vinegar, then add a nice handful of chopped fresh coriander.

I know. but I tend to think of salsa as being fresher than a cooked sauce. (Home-made, anyway.)Ā
honestly, I used to hate coriander, then i bought some open tangy taco thing kits, which ask for lime juice, green salsa and heaps of fresh coriander... this was a game changer, that combo
Anyway, i have a jar of pickled green tomatoes from last year i haven't made a plan for, i think ill go for some sort of salsa Verde with them

Ā
Yes, I'm just being a pedant... sorry.
When I think of salsa, I too imagine a fresh, chunky chopped tomato based dip or toppping.

la salsa
(sahl-sah)
feminine noun
1. (culinary)
a. sauce
Puse un poco de yerbabuena en la salsa de chocolate.
I put a little spearmint in the chocolate sauce.
b. gravy (meat)
Todos los domingos, mi abuela hace un asado con salsa y guisantes para toda la familia.
Every Sunday, my grandmother makes a roast with gravy and peas for the whole family.
c. dressing (salad)
Mi ensalada preferida tiene lechuga, champiƱones, aceitunas y una salsa casera.
My favorite salad has lettuce, mushrooms, olives, and a homemade dressing.
Ā
I very quickly gave up with the de-seeding and skinning of the tomatoes, so my salsa now looks like a glorified tomato salad, albeit as finely chopped as I can be arsed with.
Goes on the side with a three bean chilli, homemade guacamole, sour cream, brown rice and fistfuls of coriander 😎

That's pretty much what I've had every day since I made veggie chili on Saturday which the rest of the family think is good, but not as good as I do. All good then. šĀ
Hoping for a thread about a funky bike brand. Was dreading a thread about danc'in. The sauce....a reasonable middle path.
Ā
Coriander is a must imo. Otherwise it's a tomato sauce.Ā
