According to the MEN, Paul Massey has been fatally shot near his home.
Goodbye England's rose
May you ever grow in our hearts
You were the grace that placed itself
Where lives were torn apart
You called out to our country
And you whispered to those in pain
Now you belong to heaven
And the stars spell out your name
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here
Along England's greenest hills
Your candles burned out long before
Your legend ever will
Loveliness we've lost
These empty days without your smile
This torch we'll always carry
For our nation's golden child
Even though we try
The truth brings us to tears
All our words cannot express
The joy you've brought us through the years
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here
Along England's greenest hills
Your candles burned out long before
Your legend ever will
Goodbye England's rose
May you ever grow in our hearts
You were the grace that placed yourself
Where lives were torn apart
Goodbye England's rose
From the country lost
Without your soul who missed the wings of your compassion
More than you will ever know
And it seems to me you lived your life
Like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset
When the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here
Along England's greenest hills
Your candles burned out long before
Your legend ever will
Your footsteps will always fall here
Along England's greenest hills
Your candle burned out long before your legend ever will
live by the sword, etc...
something of a big hitter then ?
can anyone vouch for Al's whereabouts at the time ?
That Bastard burnt two of my jobs down because we didn't use his security. Nasty nasty piece of work.
Big news if you're from Manchester. But most of us aren't...
It must be awful for you.
🙂
Add's Lowey's name to suspect list.
Could Google i suppose but who is he?
And all while a certain Mr Lattlay-Fottfoy is still on trial I notice
I'm sure most of the people he plied his trade on weren't given headlines on the BBC news
All a bit, "who?", unless you live in Manchester.
I'd imagine Salford Police are expecting to be a tad busy in the immediate future, as all hell will be about to break loose. In a few days this will no doubt be being referred too as 'the first in a series of shootings'
Who? Where's "Salford"?
Could Google i suppose but who is he?
He's him.
Not all prominent criminals look like circus show freaks.
Paul Ferris...
Aaron Coghlan...
When I lived out in Ibiza I spent a week partying with Az and his crew in the mid 90's not long after he'd got off with the Chris Little murder, he was a strange character. At the time I knew loads of Liverpool 'underworld' figures but Az was completely different to anyone I knew. In looks or character. Most unusual. I've seen him on the news several times over the years and he's still peculiar.
Maybe it's a characteristic of Manchester underworld figures, Paul Massey, Coghlan and Dominic Noonan are all a little 'unconventional'...
You play with feathers, you get your bum tickled.
Lovin the picture of the [s]stolen hanging basket [/s] flowers in that BBC article with the carefully crafted bereavement note. Touching.
Never heard of him.
This is great news, well done hitman.
franki - Why do we need to know that you've never heard of him?
This is a national news story so I'm within my rights to mention it on here. This guy had a long history of "work."
Thought he would have had a nicer house.
This is a national news story
Manchester's a nation?
Never heard of him.
Thanks for that startling insight.
Maybe you could start a thread about other people you've never heard of, that would be awesome.
Never heard of him.
well you have now
Manchester's a nation?
Careful, Salfordians don't like it when you call it Manchester. You just might get a cap in yo ass.
You play with feathers, you get your bum tickled.
😆 😆 😆
Manchester's a nation?
Well I've just seen it on the National news so I guess that's what he meant. That said I've never heard of him or the guys with the specs up there. I do know who the some of the names of the 'gangsters' in Newcastle.

Mike Ashley?
Why all the hate for Franki when previous posts make a similar point?
You play with feathers, you get your bum tickled.
Like it! 🙂
Mike Ashley?
😆
Wow. Quite a reaction unintentionally stirred up there! 😆
Has anyone else had To Be With You stuck in their head all morning?
Has anyone else had To Be With You stuck in their head all morning?
No. Why?
Just seeing the phrase Mr. Big every time I look on here or the news...
Ah!
That seems a very appropriate song. I've never heard of that before either.
What! John Cooper Clarke shot?
His and the Noonans tentacles spread much further that Salford. Gone & not missed horrible & frightening
You just might get a cap in yo ass.
A cloth one?
ive heard of salford
Let's hope they catch the shooter then there's two less people on the street I wouldn't like to meet.
I think i know who did it.
Blimey.
Shot up to nine times.
The Glock was ticking.
He was only 5ft tall. No bearing on anything but I was surprised that Mr. Big really wasn't
Featured prominently in this book:

From what I remember reading he had some strange morals regarding drug dealers for a gangster. He was vehemently against them and anyone caught in the Ordsall triangle didn't have their bum tickled with a feather, more an internal examination with a screwdriver.
Also a very good way of keeping on the good side of his competitors half a mile up the road, who take a dim view of the free market.
Anyway, bollocks to him.
My favourite after work pub was commandeered by ****s like him.
I really miss that pub.
Let's hope they catch the shooter then there's two less people on the street I wouldn't like to meet.
Having lived in Salford for years, and knowing the way things work in situations like this, you can guarantee there won't be a single witness. Not if they've got any sense.
I wouldn't worry though. I doubt they're going round randomly shooting people, and it was mere coincidence that they happened to bump into one of the countries most notorious gangsters. In fact, I doubt the people responsible are even still in the country.
Rebecca Long Bailey, the Labour MP for Salford and Eccles, said she was "shocked" at the news of Mr Massey's death, adding her "thoughts are with his family and the residents of Clifton".
It would have been better to say nothing.
Walsh's book is good.
I would like to announce I've never heard of him either.
I'm glad to have shared this with you all.
Shouldn't it be
Salford's "Mr Big" shot dead
?
Is there a suggestion he wasn't shot dead?
