juat seen the service menu on my machine and it's done 461 coffees.
What grade refurb was yours?
Good
Pat tested makes it sound like it comes from Oxfam
Over 400 espressos sounds pretty well used, just seems to be so many handed back or not working examples would put me off
Parent company Breville sell a lot of cheap end stuff but Sage could be the Lexus of the company like Toyota
I have just returned a non working Bambino. Didn't message them, just put a return in thru eBay. Was super simple, got a returns label, sent back via RM. Got a refund in a a few days. I've had a duotemp from them a month or so and its fine. There were a few coffe grounds poos out when I purged it, but otherwise I couldn't tell itd been used.
I was hovering over a purchase from eBay, was going to get the touch impress, I'm glad I haven't now . I'll just await until end of December when the Ninja ones are back in stock, they get rave reviews from the coffee snobbists and are <£600 new also supposed to be easy to service and get parts..
EDIT – found the service menu. 1780 coffees made.
That’s nothing, my sage duo temp is around 13000 without issue
Sounds like quite a lot to me. My Touch has 5000, and that's been about 3 coffees a day every day for the past 5 years. I was initially tempted by this PSA because it's quite tired now. I've repaired it myself (out of warranty) at least 4 times during that time. First time was at around 2000 coffees when the flow rate sensor clogged up.

That's just two a day for 7 months.... Not exactly heavy use!
And you don't know how many have been returned or how many have seen sold so any comparison is pretty futile.
I ended up finding a brand new Bambino Plus for about 20 quid more with double the warranty. Based on your quality reviews I’m pretty glad with my choice so far.
I’ve been refunded so the returns procedure was pretty painless. They’ve emailed on the back of this quick turnaround basically saying mistakes happen very occasionally and hoping for a positive review - I haven’t responded but I’m tempted to point out that I am active on a forum where 2 out of 4 units at least have been returned in the last week…
They collected mine today with the intention of fixing it fully, swapping for another or refunding me, with a decision within 48 hours.
I would still like a machine and accept that it may be second hand for the money I paid but, it must work and not be battered or abused beyond minor scuffs and marks.
If it comes back with a unit having made over 800 drinks, I've decided I'll reject it again and ask for a refund.
No response to the email I sent into Sage either, which was expected.
If this helps anybody, it looks like Sage and the ebay seller are partners and it is unsurprisingly a growing business.
Maybe we have just been unlucky with failed units, although I suspect they work on really tight margins and there is/has been a decision within the company to take a chance with punting out machines that haven't been touched.

The stock goes through a detailed diagnostic and refurbishment process designed to add significant value to the stock and provide both financial and brand benefits to Sage Appliances.
well that’s clearly not true !
Sage should be interested because they clearly have a contract that isn’t being performed currently.
I will reiterate that I bought a barrista express from them with absolutely no issues, the machine had some scuffs on the tray but was clean throughout and works perfectly. This was about 12 months ago.
Rubbish update time.
The seller went a way to redeem themselves by collecting the faulty one in good time, telling me they'd 'found; another in the same or better condition and it would be with me in 48 hours.
Less that 24 it was in my kitchen - impressed I was.
This one was in a factory box and looked very clean - even happier.
Plugged it in, it came on.
2 seconds later, the consumer unit popped as the breaker tripped, all the sockets cut off and no coffee machine.
Sigh - it's going back with a refund demand.
Oh poop.
Meanwhile I can very safely say I've never had such nice coffee at home.
In fact it's as good as anything I've had from a coffee shop.
(I presume you checked the plug and tried it in other sockets?)
Glad yours is going well, I think a couple of us have just been unlucky tbh.
Yes, I checked a couple of different sockets and the plug is moulded and goes into the machine. Deffo something wrong internally on the machine. Shame but will see if they come up with anything else tomorrow. Not expecting much as they just play numbers and pass on ex-office machines.
It's more than a bit annoying that they couldn't slow down a bit to actually check things like they say they do though.
