My old outdoor centre for sale.
17 bedroom main house, three chalet's, two 6 bedroom houses, 8 acres and a separate harbour on Loch Tay.
£1.1m
It's sad to see the place like this, sad it's closed, but I hope someone can make use.

Stealth Ad! Mods.
Should be in the classifieds 😉
Seriously, such a shame to see such establishments disappear. Hopefully it can be bought back as a useful community asset.
When I say 'my', I use the royal 'my'... 🙃
What was the root cause of it failing?
Looks a great facility
What was the root cause of it failing?
There is this thing called a global pandemic that has shut outdoor centres for 18 months. 🥴
This place was next in line for a renovation, plus it's the most remote of the centres the trust owns. They need to sell to get some money in the bank and keep the other centres open without huge debt after a year and more of no customers. Sadly it's the 'obvious' one to sell.
That looks ace and in what seems to be a fantastic location. Let’s chip in and buy it!
EPC Rating = E
Ah'm Oot, as they say - far too expensive to run! (As if 29 bedrooms generally wasn't an issue in itself)
Seriously though, that is a great shame but I guess it's not the first and almost certainly won't be the last. Presumably there's been a big downturn in the courses and associated occupancy over the last couple of years in particular?
It was a great facilities.
My teacher was so pissed off with how good my raft was he just started using the rib bailing bucket to throw water on us.
What bloody shame I can't see stuff like this happening once the properties have been bought up.
Kinda cheap I think
I guess it’s not the first and almost certainly won’t be the last.
I think you're right.
I know other centres now carrying large debt, and that's in Scotland where there was some government rescue cash for them. Over the next decade I can see more centres going.
That said, many (like this one) are old, expensive to run buildings on odd sites and not always very accessible.
Places like the new Arran Centre show what a purpose built building, on an accessible site, with activities from your front door (minibus transport being a huge cost) can actually look like, and can be a lot cheaper to run.

Maybe an opportunity, but how to fund new centres....?
Ah’m Oot, as they say – far too expensive to run! (
£12k p.a. to heat via a biomass boiler contract would have been painful during Covid
That’s a bit spooky. We were just talking about what we did in summer holidays when we were kids and I was talking about going on an outward bound course that I’m sure was here! It was some sort of Christian thing when I was there, sent to do a Rotary Youth Leadership Award. It was great, I think I was the only person that wanted to be there. It was supposed to be reforming or something, but none of the kids at my school wanted to go except me!
Cheap at the asking price.
Just needs a euromillions winner to buy it and put it into some kind of trust for the greater good…
Looks great, I used to live those trips as a kid.
Over entered the euromillions, if I win I'll but it. Or it's only 1/190,000 of Jeff Bezos's wealth if anyone knows him to ask.
Sad to hear that Ardeonaig has closed it’s doors, although I’m surprised that it’s less viable than Ardgour - it really is the arse end of nowhere in relation to the main population centres in Scotland.
Great memories. I spent a week there in either 94 or 95.
Just shared this to one of our WhatsApp groups. 8 families I think. “Let’s buy a massive house in the country and live together” is a frequent suggestion. They’re going wild for it…
It's lovely there.
Some friends of ours lived in one of the houses (I believe he worked at the centre)
We were lucky enough to stay there a few years ago (10 years + it seems!!)
Seems like a bargain!
Cheers, been looking for a place with its own harbour.
Stunning spot, eh?
What's the midge situation like?
@ mat oab..
Do you know the old Boathouse at Outward Bound Ullswater?
It sold for £2.2 – £2.4 million
What’s the midge situation like?
They're included in the asking price, I believe.
What’s the midge situation like?
Does he play Ultravox hits every Saturday night between the bingo rounds?
Midges at Ardeonaig - pretty usual Highland fair - a few days you despise them
Midges at Ardgour - my colleagues lived in midge nets or had the famous 'Ardgour midge wipe' going on as an uncontrollable tick....
although I’m surprised that it’s less viable than Ardgour – it really is the arse end of nowhere in relation to the main population centres in Scotland.
Ardgour and Barcaple had both undergone recent renovations too.
Ardgour is seemingly mothballed, possibly gone too. Although that has two good sized hydro generators on site, and is 400 acres...
Ardeonaig is a pain to get to - bus has to transfer kids to 4 minibuses to get to the centre, a lot of activities are a driver away as it is halfway down the loch. It is north facing. It is a mile of private drive up a 200m hill. It is an hour and twenty to drive to cash and carry (etc) in Perth or Stirling
Ardgour, although nominally more remote, is 35 mins (if you time ferry right) to Fort William with most facilities you need. It is right on the road, buses can pull up to the centre. Most activities are on the doorstep - the beach is the end of the lawn. Plus a few hundred £k a year in hydro power and carbon credit payments....
