I still find it slightly tragic that the best I've ever seen Metallica play was when Lars was off ill and the roadie/Joey from Slipknot/Dave from Slayer filled in for him. I WAS BORN TOO LAAATTEEE!!!!

Have they left Lou Reed behind? He's useless.

Dave from Slayer

It did help that Dave Lombardo is a much better drummer than Lars, though 🙂
Having seen Metallica a few times previously and not being that fussed about the Black album compared to MoP or RtL I'm going to wait and see who the third headliners are before deciding to go for the weekend or just Sabbath Sunday

The more pressing questions are,

When are tickets going back on sale, and are there any RIP tickets left?

I saw Metallica this year at Sonisphere festival and they played most of Ride the Lightning 😀

When are tickets going back on sale...

This Friday I believe.

It is my daughters' 3rd birthday that weekend so I don't think I will be going - so I am holding out for some UK dates* in Sabbath's Worldwide tour.

*Dates that are actually honoured before the band implodes again because Ozzy walks out/is fired/dies of a drug & alcohol overdose/eats a small mammal/eats a large mammal/is eaten by a very large mammal/is told to leave by the Greater Power (Sharon)...

They don't play much kill em all any more on the grounds that it's pretty awful tbh.

Ringo Starr was a better drummer than Lars.

Apparently Van Halen have already recorded the next album, what price for them to play DOwnload? Not sure if they'd headline Day3, it's possible but more likely that they'll be second billed one night

C'mon.

Both bands are a joke nowadays. And the Black album in it's entirety? Overproduced commercial crap, and the album that they jumped the shark on. The Black Sabbath reunion has to be the most cringeworthy of recent years.

Has been dinosaurs that should retire gracefully.

Are they Bob? I saw 'tallica at the O2 last year on the Death Magnetic tour and they were just as good, if not better than the Justice Tour 90 years ago, and the Puppets tour 130 years ago. When did you last see them Bob?

I also think the Sabbath reunion is a monumental event Bob...after all, what could possibly go wrong Bob?? ...Your move Bob.... 😉

2004

Time before that was 1996 at the Barras

Before that it was 1993

Time before was 1990

First time was 1988

They haven't released a decent album since Master of Puppets. That Lulu thing was the final nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned.

I don't suppose either band cares that a few people think they are past it seeing as they have been more successful (career-wise) in their lives than most of could ever hope to be.

Indeed he is CFH, as he is probably a better drummer than all on here. In a 'dream-team band' you wouldn't pick him as being the most technically competent skin thumper or even being included in your shortlist BUT he is instrumental (ahem) in the BIG sound/scheme of things.

The best I've seen Metallica was the last time I saw Metallica, in 2009.I don't go back as far as some, on the grounds that I was 4 when Kill 'Em All came out 😉

That said, that Jools Holland performance is absolutely hilarious.
