Im thinking of an s-max and I know there's a few owners on here.
Most seem to have no roof bars, does the rack use fix points in the roof of does it clamp round the door frame thing
2013 models onwards I'm looking at

Fix point on the roof. Bars bolt to the roof through the fix points.

As above, although you might want to have a tap for the size of the thread just to clear it out. I don't put our bars on often, but a couple of times I've had to clear the thread out, otherwise it feels just a bit too tight and I've been concerned that I'll strip the thread.
