Has anyone tried getting 4 bikes in the boot with the middle row of seats up? I was thinking wheels off with the frames in across the car.

1 x big FS 29er
1 x 26” hard tail
1 x 24” hard tail
1 x 20” hard tail (just the front wheel off)

It'll be a squeeze. Definitely wheels off and seats off/dropppers down. I've had kids bikes in the back no problems, but I will drop the one or more of the seats to fit in adult bikes with minimal dismantling.

When loading seats vertically facing forward with the front wheel off with a medium long travel 29er, the rear tyre is almost touching the inside panel of the tailgate and the forks are about halfway up the back of the middle row of seats in their flattened position when they are slid fully rearwards before flattening them. I can bring the bikes forward a bit by sliding the seats forward before dropping the backs.

We have the same sized bikes:

You can't fit a XL 29er with both wheels off side-ways across the boot - I've had to take the forks off to do that when taking a shiteload of stuff to Spain.

You can fit a 16inch 26er with wheels off though
You can get a 20inch full bike in side ways
You'd have to take a wheel off the 24inch bike to get it in side ways

My old 26" Anthem won't fit across the back of ours due to the bars once they're turned 90'.

Maybe if I drop one of the end seats on the middle row to accommodate the bars of the 29er...

can you pop the forks of the 29er into the footwell of the middle row middle area seat? this (in my car) puts the bars just behind the headrest of the front seats, and takes up minimal room

Middle seat down
Two bikes upside down rear end in first between the gap.push as far forward as possible and interlink the bikes etc... Fit 2 wheels in between them if you can.
Next two bikes upside down and crossways in the boot the put a few wheels on top and behind.
Easy 8)
