Would have thought you'd be more impressed by the thought of a VIP area at The People's Assembly Against Austerity

Very George Orwell...

No, I think "some people don't like Russell Brand" is the most impressive thing I've heard so far today, well done for starting a thread pointing that out.

Speaking of Orwell, this has a tinge of 1984 to it:

It's a tricky one... on the one hand, Russell Brand is pretty loaded and at a glance, a VIP area does seem to fly in the face of what an austerity march represents, but at the same time, there is always the possibility of aggressive protestors and someone with a public profile like Brand may be a target for violence.

Fair play to him though, he has the balls to use his fame to highlight issues that the Mainstream Media is more than happy to gloss over:

Love him or Hate him, the facts surrounding the Bush Family deserve more scrutiny.

It seems more than a handful of left wing loons still believe in 'no cuts' which is even funnier than Ernesto hastily distancing himself from Brand's Marxist beliefs. But I do see how Brand does nothing for EL's street cred (awkward)

I'd be the first to support his marxist beliefs if he had any, you know that enfht. Stop trying to make out that I'm not a marxist.

He's definitely part of the control structures of the political and religious elite.

Defo think that Milliband interview was his Milli Vanilli moment - The levels of discontinuity were astounding considering how Brand 2.0 firmly markets himself as a man of principle - He harps constantly about the fraudulent banking oligarchy and then has the nerve to try and back Ed - Who is as insidiously bipartisan as they get - the furthest thing from an ideological shift in governance - What does that twerp Andy Burnham call it ? Oh yeah "aspirational socialism" - that sounds about as tangible as some V Brakes at Megavalanche .. Cut your losses Russ - run back to Hollywood and churn out some Rom Coms whilst the work's still there ..

One assumes that elements of the protest didn't want Brands specious and irritating swashbuckling to lessen the credibility of their agenda!
