I remember when he first appeared on television screens in North America, and even before British and American conservatism became the hideous beast it is today, he was spouting vile trash.
I have never in my life deliberately spoken ill of the dead, and while I will do my best to refrain from doing so now, realistic comments on what he said and did in life are still fair game.
So with that, I think he was one of the most vulgar, terrible people, with some of the most despicable views, that I have ever heard of.
He was 70.
Bill Hicks hated him, good enough for me.
I believe we are not meant to say anything bad about the recently deceased. So I will repeat my sentiment from the death of Fred Phelps.
Rush Limbaugh is dead, that's good.
I used to try and listen to him in order to get exposed to opposite viewpoints but I found it too toxic rather than informational. It's the weird part of modern media that if you slip up then you can be cancelled in the blink of an eye but double down and commit fully and you are right up there
I don't wish anyone dead but I am happy he is not longer broadcasting
Sadly there are plenty more to step into the void he leaves, in fact former VP Pence might be out of work and looking to his former career as a right wing radio host to fill his time and pockets
I've never actually heard the guy broadcast but from what I've read today he would not have been on my dinner party guest list.
Dies during Black History Month? Well, well...
Charles Koch next....
Pence blew it the moment he figured there were actual rules in the game. His credibility amongst the audience of these trash talkers and lie spreaders is gone.
I've not exactly fulfilled all my potential in life, fair to say but at least when I die the world won't actually get better.
In 2003 I drove around and across the States in a battered old van, with my bike and tent in the back. About the only constant on the long and sometimes boring drive, through all the states, was that somewhere on the radio dial I could find Rush Limbaugh's show. He seemed deeply weird but it passed the time. Little did we know that his hateful worldview would become the norm on the right.
The other radio constant was Outback Steakhouse ads, which I can still remember with incredible clarity to this day...
Rush Limbaugh is dead. His condition is described as "satisfactory".
A complete waste of air, wish he'd gone sooner.
He used to have a section on his show where he'd read out the name of a homosexual who had died of AIDS and then play a celebratory fanfare all to the background music of something like "Kiss Him Goodbye" or "Back In The Saddle Again". Just... wow...
The world is certainly not worse off without him in it.
The world is a little bit of a better place.
He was a horrible human, won’t be missed
Rush Limbaugh is dead. His condition is described as “satisfactory”.
I like that, I like that very much! 👏🏻
It has to be said, every time someone like him dies, the overall quality and intelligence of the human race rises by a tiny fraction of a percent.
OP summed it up perfectly.
It was amusing to see Trump interviewed on Fox about Limbaugh's death and simply use it as a reason to put words in a dead man's mouth saying how great he thinks Trump is.
Sums those two up.
Unfortunately, when some people die, the world becomes a better place. I'm not celebrating his death but I'm certainly not mourning his loss to humanity.
A vile waste of cells, one of those occasions where news sets you up for the day.
