So, let's say you had previously bought shoes in a proper running shoe shop, along with the whole gait analysis thing. But they're now getting old and leaky and needing replaced.

Would you then happily buy the same (or same but updated) make/model online without worrying about iffy fit/comfort/etc?

Having doubts myself so wondering the amassed masses opinions.

Thanks.

I bought a pair of Zamberlan recently. Yes, why not so long as you check their measurement. I will stick to EURO measurement as that's more accurate.

Thanks lads.

Just thought of another question - is there such a thing as a "best time of year for bargains on last years models" in the running shoe marketplace?

Diesnt seem to be. There are so many manufacturers with such a huge range there seem to be "bargains" all over the place.

In answer to your question I almost always buy online. This whole getting advice from a teenager in a running shop after running on a treadmill malarky is overrated.

Indeed, I take size 49/50 shoes, so running shops tend not carry much stock in my sizes, yet the two occasions I have tried the gait analysis, they have miraculously recommended shoes they have in stock. I think an experienced sports physiologist may be able to spot things in your gait, but not a sportshop salesperson, especially as running on a treadmill is not the same as normal running.

look about for last years shoes, good discounts on them quite often
easiest if you have big or small feet though

there are a few places that seem to specialise in a year or two old stuff startfitness is one that springs to mind

I buy all my shoes from http://www.northernrunner.com/
I know my size and what I want, so just buy whatever New Balance shoe fits the spec / size and is reasonably priced. I stick to the same make as the New Balance last works for my feet, so I never get blisters / problems with them.
