Hi! My 11 year old son is enjoying his running and heading out a few times a week. It's his birthday soon and I'd like to get him a simple gps watch so he can track his runs ( pace and distance) that can link to Strava. Cheap and simple. Second hand is fine!
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance
Garmin Forerunner 55 fits the bill. Links to Strava via Garmin Connect. Mini-a11y inherited my old one, used for tracking MTBing mostly but also works well for swimming. £130ish or so new.
Garmin Venu also worth a look, the OLED screen is noce and battery life very good for the size of the watch.
As above, Forerunner 55, or even 45. Cracking little running watches.
Thanks! And size wise, are they ok for smaller wrists?
Needs to be able to do Bluetooth upload, Jnr FD uses one of my old watches but can never be bothered connecting a cable to upload
Are they using Strava or something else? I know your not supposed to have Strava as a kid but our son does
The forerunners come in two sizes A “s” after the number denotes small.
11 year old ngkgirl loves her poco watch and uses it to record our bike rides, which is a good backup for when I regularly forget to start my watch. Great fit on her small wrist, built in gps, syncs to strava (untested here), but more importantly to her it can control her music!
Garmin 45S. I get mine secondhand from eBay,vinted, cex....
Xiaomi Smart Band 8 will do all that, and you can get one new for less than 40GBP. Garmin or Xiaomi or whatever, don't forget they all need a phone to set them up and for sync.
If you or someone you know have access to Blue Light or similar works discounts the Forerunner 45s is £85 and the 55 (no S model) is £126.
syncs to strava (untested here)
Now tested, the poco watch syncs with strava as expected.
