Running socks with heel padding

Very wide toes with narrow heel makes shoe fitting difficult.

Anyone know of running socks that have plenty of padding at the heel? But only the heel. Ideally want a sock that gets much thicker at the heel to stop any slipping, but no padding at the toes.

I think you need to buy some shoes that fit you properly rather than buying some socks!

Wide fit shoes can also have slim ankles.

I like Hoka wide trainers but you might not

Brooks Adrenaline GTS. Only shoes I've ever tried on and first pair I tried just fitted. Properly. I overpronate too and they help with that. I have a bunion on my right foot big toe joint, this makes my right foot over a 4E width fitting, where my left foot is under a 2E width fitting. As above, its a frustrating game of trial and error.

Rolls eyes...I never thought about that.

I've tried too many different shoes to keep a track of.

It's not the shoes. It happens in every shoe I wear. I just have strange shaped feet. The shoes I have now are the best fit I can find without getting custom made shoes.

You can buy thin insoles that you cut to size. Most bargain world type shops have them. You can just cut a heel section or double layer it and fold some up the sides. I've done this a few times to get a good fit. Works best if you have a full size insole over the top of the extra layers or a few dots of glue to hold it in place.

Thanks, I'll give that a go.

@mjsmke - Have you tried heel lock lacing?

Check this out.

Ideally you'd want seam free socks to give you a bit more space in the toe box.

I was gonna say to try some of the insoles that don't include a toe bit.

I'd get sporty anti-plantar ones from an online specialist though, rather than Poundland ones.

Edit: turns out I got my last batch from Amazon actually, so maybe have a look on there

Search for heelcup insoles.

Then pick the ones that you fancy.

Have you tried heel lock lacing?

This is what I always use to stop my heel moving around.

Thanks for that. I'll give that a try before new insoles.
