I want something to wear over my Craft Extreme windstopper base layer. Something to keep the chill off, but not too warm.

Any recommendations?

Saucony Epic Gilet, tis what I use.

So far has proven to be a very good buy. The reflective strips are quite good.

How's the running been going anyway?

Good thanks, enjoying it. I'm gradually building up the distances and doing around 6.5km at the moment; all off road and with some fairly steep hills included. I'm supplementing it with some treadmill work in the gym, just to get the muscles and tendons working.

Unfortunately my leg injury has come back (nothing to do with the running) so may not be able to do much for a bit.

I can recommend the Asics Gel Fuji Trainers I bought.

I'm using an Altura Night Vision Gillet at the moment, not at thin and light as some, but very visible.

I'm not bothered about visibility as I am running off-road.

The Gore one I got this year is good but a little shapeless (you'd need a big belly to fill it). The Concurve one I had previously was much more snug.

Could someone explain how a running gilet would differ from a cycling gilet? For what it's worth, I'm using the Endura Equipe gilet for both. Thin and wind proof.

That is a good question, as I am also considering using my Gore Phantom 2, with the arms taken off.

I guess the main difference is the cut. I would also guess that they don't need to be as warm as you don't have the same level of wind (due to the lower speeds) and the upper body moves more when running.

I would have thought that would be too hot, as it's quite thick.

Something like this, maybe?

...personally, if it's cold but not wet, I just put a running vest under my Gore windproof base layer for a bit of added warmth.

That is my thinking too.

I may try a few of my existing items of technical clothing before I take the plunge, but it doesn't hurt to look.

Is there a running equivalent to the likes of dhb? Cheap, but reasonable quality and functionality.
