I have just started training for a 10k run later this year and find running very hard and quite boring, any way will stick with it, will running improve your bike fitness?

will running improve your bike fitness?

That depends! Are you replacing some of your biking with running? Then probably not. Are you running in addition to your normal level of biking? Then probably yes.

What irelanst said.

FWIW I use to run a lot and only really ride for fun in the summer. So winter was a lot of running. When I'd go back to riding after a long break it always felt bloody hard. The heart and lungs were good but the legs and how you use them, very different.

I have been doing triathlon for a few years now. I used to just run yet since cycling a lot my running has suffered. That's just my experience. I think running would make you fitter but I don't think you would be any faster on the bike.
