I don't have a 240v adaptor for my domestic campervan fridge, I could buy one but the 240v/12v dual power relay thing is about 90 quid
Fridge power is about 5a 40w according to specs.
So if I have say a 10A smartcharger and leave that connected to the battery and mains hook up, it should keep battery charged while fridge is running?
Thanks
Yeah, it'll be fine. The way our hookup works for any 12v stuff, including the fridge, is that all that stuff runs from the leisure battery, and the hookup is attached (via a little consumer unit) to a 240v charger that charges the battery. You're essentially doing the same thing.
Sounds fine. My smart charger has a power supply mode where it will limit the voltage to 13.5V so you don't leave the battery at too high a voltage for too long. But for a few hours/days it should be fine, and the fridge isn't on continuously anyway so when the fridge compressor stops the charger should see the full battery and stop too.
Yep. As IHN says.
