Do your really think that the “little England” Tory faithful will vote for a Scot?
Depends on how much xenophobic/racist posturing he does.
They'd vote for Priti Patel as she embodies their petty nastiness better than anyone.

She's not white so it's not going to happen.
She’s not white so it’s not going to happen.
She's perfect for them.
She's a thoroughly nasty piece of work and they can also then play the "we aren't racist, look at our party leader" card.
I wouldn't be so sure if I were you.
“He gave up US citizenship for PROFIT!!!”
There’s plenty of ‘mirkins that will see that as a positive. They’re all about not paying tax.

Agree with this, but is she too common?
She’s not white so it’s not going to happen.
Agree with the comments in reply. A brown person is great for the Tory faithful as it convinces them they're inclusive and multicultural and therefore can't possibly be nasty or racist. Even if the brown person in question would have gleefully ratted out her neighbours to the gestapo
US would fear a Brit would bring them evil socialist things like the NHS. Can't have citizens paying taxes that help everyone equally or help the poor. That's practically communism!
You need to stop this 'priti as PM' nonsense. It's next level dystopia and my brain can't currently handle the dark forces at play. It'd be means tested forced sterilisation, with 60000pa the cut off point. And town square hangings etc
She’s not white so it’s not going to happen.
Look at the betting odds that Sunak will be PM next. Plenty of BAME people in the conservatives, they will probably have two or more BAME PMs before Labour even elect one as leader
I wouldn’t be so sure if I were you.
I'm sure.
Besides, the minute the gloves come off he rivals will burn her to the ground over the Israel thing.
Liz Truss has a better chance as the acceptable female face of slash and burn politics.

Totally agree.
Bet the Tories won't have black PM any time soon though. Slightly more chance with Labour, but still not high.
Just go with Larry. I'm sure he could do a better job than all of them combined.

And it's just my hunch, but I feel Sajid Javid is more likely to successfully swoop back in than Jeremy Hunt.
Besides, the minute the gloves come off he rivals will burn her to the ground over the Israel thing.
Have you been in a cave for the last five years?
There is no such thing as shame any more. She has been at the point that would have prompted a forced resignation (10-20 years ago) at least twice and has just brazened it out with the dumb **** Johnson protecting her. The next step is for her to turn her non-resignations into a positive. I.e. "These were not issues that were deemed worthy of any further actions".
Past conduct only matters when it is in the public eye for the first time. This is post-truth politics.
I'll leave this here again.
– your more prejudiced than the tories.
Do go on.
Have you been in a cave for the last five years?
Reminder that she was sacked by Theresa May just over three years ago (let's not forget our main man Gavin too).
The wheel will turn. It always does. And when it does, it will be at the point that Brand Boris has become toxic enough that he has had to be pushed.
When Boris is done, so are they.
you're more prejudiced than the tories.
I couldn't help myself 😉
The Tory party is a ruthless machine. Much like May was kept in her post to do the first difficult bit of Brexit, even when it was going to shit, they kept her there so all the much could be pinned on her.
Same with BoJo - whilst C-19 is rampant and Brexit is a complete mess they'll not let him leave unless they are absolutely forced to. The timing is not of his choosing but the party's.
Patel and Sunak can only become leader if its a coronation. If its a contested vote in the membership then the white one will win - always
Reminder that she was sacked by Theresa May just over three years ago (let’s not forget our main man Gavin too).
And where are they now?
Their Brexityness is their only selling point, but in the looking glass world that is Brexshit Britain, that is all you need for a top job.
I don't think it is fully understood yet just how much Brexshit has corrupted UK politics. The whole thing is a spectacular act of national self harm - anyone with a brain cell can see that. But it has become the single qualification for holding a cabinet post. That kind of ridiculous populist juxtaposition is going to shape this country's future for the next decade and beyond.
To be clear, there are only two possible reasons why anyone could still support Brexit.
1. Personal ambition. Be it political, economic or both. Swallow your self respect and go along with the idiocy to get you what you want.
2. Idiocy. Of the genuine kind.
That's it.
Patel and Sunak can only become leader if its a coronation. If its a contested vote in the membership then the white one will win – always
What if it was Patel v Sunak though?
I think you are wrong by the way. I don't think their racism is quite as blunt as you think - I don't think Rees Mogg would win against Sunak, nor would May beat Patel (if she was stupid enough to stand again).
I don’t think their racism is quite as blunt as you think
Absolutely. It is there, but can always be put to one side if the candidate show the necessary tendency for petty vindictiveness.
Patel and Sunak can only become leader if its a coronation. If its a contested vote in the membership then the white one will win – always
I'll quite happily put cash up that the conservatives will have a BAME leader before either Labour or the SNP
I'll also put cash down that the UK has a BAME PM before Scotland has a BAME FM
But continue to forget the members of the conservative party pick their candidates, even the BAME ones
I think Boris will be around for a while yet purely because no one would want to take over. Brexit is a mess Covid is a mess so why would you want to pick those poison chalices up. I think he will be left out to hang by the party at least til there is some semblance of normality re covid
How the rest of the world sees us. And particularly our cowardly leader.
Makes you proud, eh?
I’ll also put cash down that the UK has a BAME PM before Scotland has a BAME FM
Probably true, the the demography of Scotland from the last census was that it is 96% white whereas the rest of the UK is 87% white (England is 85% white) so the be honest that is to be expected. Granted those number are from 2011 so the absolutes will have probably changed but I'd expect there to be similar differences.
I’ll quite happily put cash up that the conservatives will have a BAME leader before either Labour or the SNP
I agree.
But that'll happen by not giving the Conservative Party members the choice to block it.
3 words... The Baroness Warsi. (no not a sci-fi character but Sayeeda Warsi ex-Tory party Chair).
She's got some very strong views on the Conservatives and given that she was very much part of the inner circle for some time, I'd say it's a well informed opinion.
Anyone read the FT article about the exemption Johnson sneaked into covid regs at Xmas for families with babies conveniently born in same period as his?

Nope but if true it shows that Johnson has at least learned one lesson.
Much less hassle to frig the rules to suit yourself first. Much less embarrassing than having to appear on the Rose Garden lawn to tell a pack of risible lies to an incredulous media pack after the fact.
If you're going to be corrupt it pays to be at least a little bit organised about it...
I read the article. I don't credit Boris with enough intelligence to come up with that exemption on purpose.
The exemption is for support bubbles: "- you live with a child under 1, or who was under 1 on 2 December 2020"
Johnson has sufficient intelligence to fix the rules to his own advantage and will be happy that many are stupid enough to think it's just a happy coincidence.

Anyone else see her face on Have I Got News For You when someone straight-up asked her if Boris is an alcoholic? 😆
I can't see this happening:
- NOBODY wants that job atm
- There aren't many contenders anyway
- Brexit will be done, vaccinations will start taking effect
Nope but if true it shows that Johnson has at least learned one lesson.
There has been multiple suggestions he has been up to that all the time.
For example the delay in lockdown handily went past the baby shower.
Cruddas gets a peerage - Boris should resign for this little stunt (cunningly announced during recess)...

Nothing to see here - move along folks.
Johnson sneaked into covid regs at Xmas for families with babies conveniently born in same period as his?
Do you really think he has an eye for that type of detail?
More like a SPAD or smart civil service lawyer came up with it and made sure the date fitted. Also in and of itself the exemption has a logic as a strong support network is essential for new parents. By the time the kid is one you should have things sorted.
Anyone else see her face on Have I Got News For You when someone straight-up asked her if Boris is an alcoholic? 😆
Yup, and firmly believe she has enough about her to have done it deliberately.
I'm not a fan of many Tories, but do have a bit of time for her. Seems open enough to love Toryism but hate what the party has become, and given her position now not be too afraid to say what she thinks.
