Zokes take the chip off and get real

Admittedly from wiki as I'm trying to watch the match, but:

The IRB has also said that in Rugby Union a spear tackle should be a straight red card.

No chips to get off, rules is rules etc. Funny how everyone's complaining now the boot's on the other foot

Put your head back up your own arse Zokes, learn the rules before you spout off with your nobody likes the master race pish. Why is it that we are not talking about an English spear tackle? Oh aye, despite ITV's support you are not there. Very refreshing to be watching a game without updates on England.

Dump tackle-not deliberate= yellow.Deliberate= Red.
I won't talk about spear tackles,because that wasn't a spear tackle.

FFS - that's a ludicrous decision. Half the world's been waiting all week for this game and the ref's ruined it as a contest after 20mins.

the law:

Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player’s feet are still off the ground such that the player’s head and/or upper body come into contact with the ground is dangerous play.

Clear spear tackle. certain yellow and yo are allways at risk of a red.

'tis a shame for the neutral as it might spoil the game but its not that out of order as a decision

Don't worry, with defence like that Wales can still do it. WILL do it!
Hook really needs to start kicking the ball in to touch now though, instead of giving France possession!

How is it a ludicrous decision given that it was a spear tackle? Or is the spear tackle part in doubt? Can't blame the ref for 'ruining the contest' if he's applying the laws of the game correctly, blame the guy who broke the rules.

The welsh commentator said it was a really strong perfect tackle, talk about one eyed commentary.
He turned Clerc upside down and dropped him on his head, really dangerous. It's a minimum yellow, can easily see it being justified as a red.

Uphill battle for the welsh now. Especially with the scrum starting to creak. Hope they can still do it!

😆
It's done, it has happened and history can not be changed. The story is all about how Wales react and move forward and their character, and that seems about right at the moment. Even with a man down we seem to be holding our own...

Not driven into the ground

You don't have to - lift his legs above his head you have a responsibility to put him down safely. Dropping him on his head is not putting him down safely

Old grump; spear tackle is just that, not attempt to use arms in tackle. Used to Nonu's speciality, run hard into somebody's chest with your shoulder.
A dump tackle has been under scrutiny since BoD in NZ. Up to then it was covered by dangerous play. 09/10 different interpretations of what is a dump and a spear, a dump CAN be accidental, a player trying to reach over to pass out of the tackle can ride up. Hence yellow/red distinction. The distinction is made in how the player is put down, driven= red, no arguement. dropped= yellow.

have read what people are saying about spear tackles

he hit him in middle legs went up (were not lifted)

no use of arms in tackle (both were around player)

i agree him did not put him down gently but he did not land on head only

It'll be interesting to see it againj at half time, but there didn't seem to be any attempt to drive the player into the ground- he tackled him low and the guy. Seemed to go backwards - seen worse things go completely unpunished at this world cup.

Wales need Stephen Jones on at half time. They need to kick every penalty and take every chance with the drop goals to win this game.
It wasn't a red card offence. It was reckless but not malicious so deserved a yellow and no more.

bottom line is the Warbaurton tackled looked accidental and he did try to not dump him as far as my eye could see. Red was a risk but very harsh IMO. Looks like this French team could be the worse ever World Cup finalists, they've been shite.

to be fair, seen at full speed that tackle would have looked well dodgy.
BUT
i agree with francois, why not consult touch judges or use the video for such an important decision- SHOCKING ARROGANCE from the ref. no surprise there then!

A real shame that. Unlucky to get the red but it was still a dangerous tackle. You can see him let go halfway through and not drive through, can't really see how you could put someone down much more gently than that. Still hoping that Wales can do the business. They are going to have to defend perfectly in the second half, but you can still see them scoring. And as aa says, they need to mash one of the front row in the dressing room door a few times 😉

DS, that bring it home thing was a joke, just paraphrasing some of the media shift. Still:

Alain Roland is an Irishman with a French mother refereeing a Semi Final between France & Wales, which Wales arrived at by beating Ireland. That sounds so ridiculous I can't believe i didnt just make it up

If Wales win this, and I think they can, without Jones and with Roberts in the scrum, and down to 14, then whoever wins tomorrow will have to be at their absolute best to beat them in the final. France lifted a bit after Warburton went, but Wales have thoroughly outplayed them so far.

Sorry - I knew it wasn't you, but someone up there wearing a tin foil hat did indicate that it was fixed reffing because Wales might be too good for the All Blacks. I didn't make that clear.
