Nice little blog about possibly one of the greatest games of rugby ever. It's one of the games that I can remember exactly where I was watching it.

Come on Namibia, you can do better than that!

(South Africa are my 20th favourite team in the RWC.)

New Zealand 31-43 France

Yeah I remember it vividly too.

Slightly more off topic is this Great Article (complete with videos) about the French Grand Slam of 1977. I stumbled across it when reading about prop Gerard Cholet - ex paratrooper & heavyweight boxer - infamous for knocking out FOUR Scotchmen in one match that season. 😯

You gotta love the French!

Anybody else watching the RSA/Namibia game? Has to be one of the least great games ever - unless you like watching lots of tries being scored with little opposition. Namibia getting completely dismantled here, and I'm wondering what record scores are.

Watching it on & off. Not great. Wondering how ITV will fit all the tries into their crappy highlight show!
NZ got 145 against Japan a while ago, that'd take some beating!

I missed that game NZ v France in 1999, was on a train to Brighton for a week on a course. Was that confident ! Wandered into the hotel and ran into some French guys, foolishly asked them what the score was. Thought they were joking...

Roll on a week and BF at the time (not for much longer) meets me off the train in a French Rugby top. Not funny. Never funny.

The video tape of that game went out the flat window eventually and got run over by a Lothian Bus, after one taunting too many. Still not funny !

And there you have it in a nutshell the average AB supporter has no sense of humour when it comes down to rugby 🙂

I have a sense of humour, I just don't like bad winners. Taunting losers is just mean and is likely why everyone hates, oh lets not start that again !!

And I really don't mind that much losing to France, at least they are a proper team with some flair and usually quite good looking.

TJ - steady on...

Not a lot of people know this, but the garden of Eden was actually in Scotland.
McAdam wandered around in wonder, admiring MacEve's flowing ginger hair.As evening fell God,as was his habit, took a stroll to see how his finest creations were doing. McAdam fell at his feet and praised God. "Thank you Father for the stunning scenery, the rivers full of Salmon and trout. Also, thank you for the fruit and berries growing in abundance. And Lord, look at the beautiful heather in the sunlight....." God cut him short with a wry smile and helped him to his feet; "It's not all that good, lets talk about your neighbours..."

With apologies to Woppit for the Godism and Toys for the racism.

Well after the canada game it was about 11am,
11:30 - kids and wife at local farm/theme park/soft play area thing
15:00 - steak sarnie and chips from the excellent cafe there,
16:15 - 15 mins kip
16:30 - chipper all evening.

Got max points for a family day, watched two games and got pished. I think my morning liver has more poke than my evening liver.

Adam Jones - legend -

I wish I could find the video where he describes scoring a try...

"Well, I sidestepped Monye, did the winger for pace and then I was clear to the line with fifty yards. Tidy"

(He actually just powered over, but never mind! Love hearing him talk rugby!)

Oh and it has no relevance to the RWC.

I expect Will Carling thinks its pretty funny too. (Leaving a winger in your wake for one thing)
Then there's a World Cup final
3 Grand Slams and
4 Triple Crowns
Poking Princess Di..

Yeah, I'm sure he can have a little chuckle about 1 missed try 😉

I used to despise both Carling and Brian Moore. (Secretly it was because they were good players on the oppo team! 🙄 )

Moore has grown on me over the years. I'd be happy to listen to his commentary on most games. Carling hasn't.

Every time Shane scores a try he has a smug grin a mile wide and looks pretty pleased with himself. In fact almost anyone who is at the top of their game will look smug to the losers. Funny thing is I still like him.

England to win easily
France to edge it. NZ to blame the ref, the ball, the crowd, well just about anyone but themselves!

Great comment on the advert for sport Wales a few minutes ago...

The jungle drums in New Zealand indicate Wales will be making changes for their next game... I'd like to see Leigh Halfpenny picked at 15... I wouldn't trust Lee Burn with a kettle at the moment

My predictions were, England by 15+ points (I reckon by 30ish), but another dull performance that has Johnson frowning (does he ever not frown?)
New Zealand by 15+ points (I reckon 25ish). They will take no Frenchie prisoners this time around.

Samoa <14 points over Fiji, but a great fun game (for viewers!)

Ireland another big score over the Russkies. Showed how bad they really are against Italy and Ireland on a bit of a roll.
