AA, if the Georgian No 18 thought the ball was dropped and loose why did he completely miss it and hit Ashton's arm? Clear at 33s on DezB's clip

Yep. 7-0 already to Italy. Maybe I was wrong!

Anti-England sentiment clouding a_a's judgement I'm afraid.

The Georgian fella is clearly late and had plenty of time to just jump over Ashton. 2 weeks for Lawes' offence was harsh.

Can't watch this one, sadly. Seems I was very, very wrong about the scoreline. Still, I suppose that's good for Italy!

I hope they do, Darcy. Two reasons....
1 - It'll stiffen Irish sinews for later matches (and/or knacker them out for when they face the Welsh! 😉 )
2 - It's good for world rugby to see the second string nations do well!

😉

I'd like to see the Russkis recover from here, Rugby scores are so "sensitive", a small difference in ability leads to enormous differences in scores, which is good but it can hide how well the losers are doing. I feel like the Russians are so nearly there..

Jings Jon; I opened that at work

Apologies. I never ever open clips in work just in case, so forgot about the NSFW bit. 😳

Russia did pretty well considering where they are coming from. 3 tries, a sniff of a bonus point and lots of good experience to take through to the Irish game, where they'll undoubtedly be victorious. 😆

NZ Col I thought that as well. 😯

Wasn't the cracker I thought it was going to be Japan made to many errors and the counter rucking by Tonga was pretty fierce.

I am always the kiss of death when I say I am going to support someone. I apologise to the nation of Japan.

Morgan Parra at fly half for France against NZ? WTF?

The French seem to have picked a less than full strength side although, with Lievremont at the helm, does anyone know what a full strength side would look like?

A blog I was on pointed out that France winning this game would benefit BOTH sides. The French will be desperate to avoid England who seem to be their bogey team in RWCs and would surely rather play Sco/Arg followed by SA/Aus.

NZ would probably rather have a couple of sterner tests against Eng then Ire/Wales instead of a 40pt walkover followed by a battle hardened Tri-Nations adversary.

(Of course, Scotland may beat England, Ireland lose to Italy and SA lose to Samoa so none of this may happen anyway.)

The main point seems to be - WHAT ARE THE FRENCHIES DOING?

WHAT ARE THE FRENCHIES DOING?

Has anybody ever been able to answer that? Seems a bizarre team selection all the same though - nobody goes out to lose a game but I suspect they'd prefer to be on the Ireland/Wales/England side of the QFs - as you say, that's assuming rather a lot.

I'm saying no more till we've played the Azurri

EDIT: also agree, I have no idea what a "full strength" France side looks like. 😳

Musical instuments and car parts are banned. WTF can I do with the knackered steering rack now?

Scotland's sports minister Shona Robison has written to tournament organisers to ask them to allow fans to play bagpipes at matches involving Andy Robinson's side. Musical instruments are on a long list of items banned from stadiums which also includes umbrellas, vuvuzelas and car parts. (The Scotsman)

From today's South Wales Evening Post:

Felipe Contepomi remains hopeful of being fit for Sunday's vital clash with Scotland.

So Scotland may well be stuffed then? Would England have beaten Argentina if Contepomi had stayed on?

Keith Earls has warned Russia that Ireland's backs are ready to explode when the two sides clash on Sunday.

Now that sounds dangerous and possibly a citable offence to me.

Nope tis true. My old man did his training at Trinity, but his last year was at Dublin City Uni as they closed the vets dept at Trinity. As an Oirsih vet in Devon he has had some communication issues with the farmers broad Devski accent.

A farmer once gave my dad a present of some embroidery that said

"half past three"

My wife died of laughter when we are at my uncles place in Naas a couple of years ago and he was flicking through the TV guide and said "Ooh look Naked Gun 33 1/3rd is on later"

On the morning of my great Aunts Funeral, we were at my Uncles in Naas, my uncle got us up, got grandad up and dressed (fairly done over with parkinsons byt hsi stage), made us all brekfast, waiting for a bit, we are all dressed up for the funeral, uncle brings out tea and cake - we duly dig in. Grandad Pipes up
"What time is dis funeral?"
Uncle "11am"
Grandad looks down at what he is wearing with surprise, looks at watch and its 7:45 am and the church is a ten minute walk.
"Ya f.e.c.king eejit"

My Mrs thought she had been transported to Craggy Island in a dream.

Seriously we are screwed if he plays; As soon as he went off Argentina were beaten. Despite any claims otherwise, that was NOT an Argentinian 1xv we beat.

I'm mildly concerned about Sundays game. We've instigated a complete Blueout in the house and are having a mid-afternoon haggis neeps and tatties afternoon tea with belhaven heavy and some nice malts prior to departing to the macs Brewery for further 'refreshments'. We will then head towards the stadium under escort from the massed pipes and drums and have our own piper with us who will be getting into the stadium by hiding his pipes up his kilt. He will then serenade us with do ya think I'm sexxy far too many times before he passes out.

I'm going to get moderately tipsy and enjoy the spectacle. Go Scotland.

Scotland XV for Arg:

Paterson, Evans, De Luca, Morrison, SLamont, Jackson, R Lawson(c), Jacobsen, Ford, Cross, Gray, Hamilton, Strokosch, Brown, Barclay.

Are duckman and TeeJ really that worried about Dr. Phil playing?

EDIT: Oh, and have a good trip duckman. 🙂

Contepomi? Not really.

Slightly perturbed by the selection. I don't think Patterson should be there - he is there as a kicker because of doubts over Jacksons kicking. I'd prefer Lamont. Shame no place for Ansbro as well.

Still - a strong and most importantly a mobile pack, a half back pair who can pass, a decent mix of power and speed in the backs.

Game plan must be to move the ball around the park to keep it away from the Pumas pack and to play a territorial game. Turnovers will be key as ever

Stupidly, I have a long meeting scheduled right over the match this morning!

Unlikely to miss much, though....!

I will be starting a 151km 1900m climbing Sportive in Bristol just as Scotland are kicking off. Jesus, the things I let myself get talked into without checking calenders first.

At least I'll get to see the Ireland Ruskis game - D'Arcy, O'Connell and Bowe all doubtful for that one. Nothing to worry about...of course 😕
