oh shit Samoa look bloody lethal! im crying already about the Welsh match... its going to be tough, tough, tough..... 'if' we win i'll eat my hat if there aint a few injuries :O
Hardly a gleaming performance!
Not from you either....Georgia to win was it not?
Is one of the plastiques on a wind-up again duckman? 🙂
God that was dull...
That was our banana skin, why are there two Scotland teams? Team 1, backs slick forwards awful. Team 2; forwards effective backs awful.Someday we will combine the two...What's a plastique?
I will let flashy or TeeJ explain that one (big hint in there) 🙂
😀 Got it!
According to the commentators the average weight of a Samoan player in the squad is 108kg.
Not average forward weight, but average weight overall! 😯
(Being ITV I wonder if that's true though?)
Average weight overall?
Jeebus 😯
[As an aside, I do actually come from the nation that I support, unlike Captain O'Flashearty] 😀
Darcy, as well you know, I'm a traveller....! 🙂
Re Samoa, not only are they big, but like the Fijians, they are skilled players with it. Lovely handling expected alongside bruising hits.
Will need Roberts and North running at them to hope to make any impact!
Still, at least the Chiropractor has retired!
How are you feeling about your kinsmen in Dale Farm flashy? Gotta be feeling for them eh? 🙂
Going to be a smashing game this one. Wales have two objectives. Primary: win (I think they're too mobile and that the current weak position of full back won't be tested as much so primary objective is probable). Secondary: injury free. Improbable 🙂

Darcy, as well you know, I'm a traveller....!
I always thought you might have servants, CFH, but I see you've been in the news lately....
Edit : damn, DD got there before me because I actually had to do some work in the middle of posting that....
Secondary: injury free. Improbable
your right, i think we'll need andy p (in his golfcart) on sunday aswell to stop them!
just watched the highlights again :O
Quality performance from Scotland, did exactly what they needed.
Forwards played very well, scrum was solid Props were very good.
Very difficult conditions, not exactly weather for running rugby, but as usual the English media take every oppertunity to have a go.
Well done to the boys, a nice well earned rest and back to it next week.
Fair play everyone connected with Scotchland seem to have their heads in the sand, they will have to improve by a huge amount to worry argentina. No matter what the conditions were failing to score a try and scraping to victory is dog shit poor.
Wales if they play like they did against SA should have too much for Samoa up front, so I fully expect them to loose.

I sort of agree with you that getting a win is the important part, but surely they must have been thinking of a bonus point against Georgia?
I mean, it's Georgia! Great forwards, but backs who barely know the shape of a rugby ball.
And forward performance aside (which was really just ok because it was only Georgia...), Scotland looked pretty average. If they can't beat the Georgian defence, what chance have they against the more professional and cynical sides like England or Argentina.
I can't see them getting out of the group based on this morning.
Sorry but your far from the mark, when the weather is as bad as it was its always a matter of grinf=ding out a win, no matter what side you are.
Scotland will be going through probably with England, not sure which one will be first yet.
No doubt if conditions allow England can put 40points past Georgia, but so could Scotland in similar conditions.
stevewhyte - MemberNo doubt if conditions allow England can put 40points past Georgia, but so could Scotland in similar conditions.
If England/Argentina have decent conditions for their games and get bonus points then Scotland are in trouble because they can't rely on 'we could have done that'.
Scotland must have some experience of playing in wind and rain? Anyway, it didn't seem to affect their passing game. The backs, Parks especially, looked as clueless as ever.
Guess we will see in a few weeks time.
I'm off to meet the team, I'll pass on your critique fo their performance and come back to you with their response.
I am also going to kick Parks and mess his hair up.
Georgia are a professional outfit these days - I think they will trouble everyone
England and Argentina have hardly set the heather alight have they? Group of death appears rather dead right now. Workman like performance from the Scots. Good work out for the big boys in the pack.
Robinson has to get the selection right tho for the two big games. A few tricky calls. Half backs and back row. Got to get the ball to the strike runners. Nice to see Lamont and Evans come looking for the ball today. Did anyone of so limited talent ever try so hard as Sean Lamont? He busts a gut every game
Sean Lamont is an immense but at times he seems such a 'confidence player'. He certainly gives it everything but when things aren't going his way he seems to struggle more than most. When he's on fire he's a machine!
Watching Scotland today was like watching Glasgow playing at home a year or two back with Parks at the helm- almost a carbon copy!
Georgia were not as bad as I had expected. The fly half was kicking so smoothly and sweetly while most seem to be struggling with the new balls.
Samoa look strong too!
I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to top the group even though it seems unlikely
As long as someone other then the AB's win the RWC i'll be happy.
I wouldn't be surprised if they manage to top the group even though it seems unlikely
no chance of that, SA will beat the shit out of them they could well beat Wales if Wales dont play well though.
Scotland will be going through probably with England, not sure which one will be first yet.
Christ you Scottish are optimists.
So, USA Russia in a mo, Rocky vs Drago! 🙂
Stars n Stripes scrum cap?
AA - you think england or Argentina look that good? I am distinctly underwhelmed and the orcmaster general and his trundle muppets don't scare me at all
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_union/14926507.stm
Bungee and booze. Yep, sounds perfect for between World Cup games....!
Russia v USA should be a good game. Well balanced teams....
Its pretty poor CFH actually. USA are bossing it, running incisive lines then slowing it up themselves almost deliberately. Allowing Russia time to regroup.
A few unaaceptable moustaches in the US pack, and one unforgivable pony tail...and stars n stripes scrum cap flier boy keeps dropping it...

Teej, I bet you a fiver that argentina beat scotland.
and one unforgivable pony tail
If that's Todd Clever, I can forgive it!
Thats him, WWEs The Undertaker without the make up and big coat...

It is - Very entertaining. Watch the highlights later!
Rugby players in beer drinking shocker...

I see the Sun are trying to derail Englands world cup. And who uses the term 'nightspot'?????
Massive hit by Big Mac! Meaty...
If that's Todd Clever, I can forgive it!
I think he is heading for a citation after that shoulder barge, that is one of the most cynical things I've seen in rugby for a while.
Oh. Not good. I've always rather like him as a player. Especially for his part in this;
The commentators on the USA v Russia streaming I watched came up with some right gems:
"Ngwenya has grown toes where his fingers should be tonight"
"Twisting and turning, if he was in a rodeo you'd ride him!"
"Burns has gone straight in there like a good Australian!" (joining a fight)
and the ref after the fight:
"Talk to your players - And [to the American] you're doing my laundry!"
Great stuff 🙂
.
Crickey the Scots will most likely win the dullest team at the worlds and thats saying a lot after witnessing the best from the home nations.Watching teams from the USA and Canada has been so entertaining and a window to the future of the game.Enduring the home nations games has been nothing short of torture
Having watched the full Scotland game now
Scotland team?
Murray / Ford / chunk
Hamilton / Gray
Strockosh / Rennie / Brown
Lawson
Jackson
Ansbro Lamont / Morrison / Evans /
Lamont.
Teej - you on for a bet then? a fiver on the Argies to beat your faux brothers?
Come on money where your mouth is....
If Scotland don't squander their chances again, they might be in with a shout. 😉
I don't gamble Toys.
scotland will beat them tho.
I'm considering being a plastic Argie for 2 hrs. Think of it as promising me a pint at london prices if my boys win. I'm considering being a plastic Argie for 2 hrs..
Why all the anger on the thread toys19?
Que? Which thread?
Oh was it the other thread you were naming other users as bitters or something...?
As you were then...
Do you mean this?
In the spite of the spirit of hating your neighbour that seems to be so prevalent on this forum, I should be abandoning my usual practise of supporting our little brothers and should be cheering Georgia all the way. Blame Teej, AA DD and all the other bitter kids. But as an example of what true rugby is about I will of course be sticking to my guns and supporting the Wee Ghillie Jockos.
Or this?
CFH it might suit you but it does not suit us, this is a thread about this game. Now if the forum software was anywhere near modern instead oft he crap we have, then we could make this a child thread and it would be fine.
It's just my bluntness, not angry..
or maybe you mean the getting changed/breast feeding in public thread? That wasn't anger, that was intolerance and vulgarity. On my part.
So which team is going to cause the first 'upset' of the RWC? The minnows have done well but no shocking wins as yet
TandemJeremy - Member
AA - you think england or Argentina look that good? I am distinctly underwhelmed and the orcmaster general and his trundle muppets don't scare me at all
No but in games reduced to dull armwrestles I think england will be superior, not sure about argentina looks 50:50 to me.
Would Samoa beating Wales be a shock? If so its the most likely one. Wouldnt be suprised that much by Italy beating ireland based on current form either
But where have I been a "bitter kid" on the RWC thread? Apart from my spats with duckman/IJ about the breakdown shite (we've all kissed and made up over that).
Have I wished defeat on any of our home nations?
Darcy, best ignored. There's a lot of repressed anger there.
So, Ireland's chances against Australia? Or not as the case might have to be.....Doesn't bode well, does it? 😉
Doesn't bode well, does it?
No, no and no again.
And I'm not saying any more than that. 😛
A pessimist is never disappointed, Darcy!
😆
DD I mean bitter as in anti english. There appears to be a general hatred of the english, its terribly boring and does not really make for unbiased analysis.
AA- I agree Samoa and would suggest Fiji are also capable of beating wales. Although less likely than the upset in 2007 I think, given that Wales appear to be playing better than in 2007..
BUT if Wales do hold it together then they have most likely to face Australia in the QF's, which is daunting but possibly not as daunting as their close run with SA.
WHICH Means possible run in with England in the semi's.... (assuming we come top of our table and make it past France (or poss NZ, but unlikely) in the QF's. I do not relish meeting Wales in the semi's.
CFH - if it was repressed you wouldn't know about it would you. Anyway it's not anger, it's joy when people come along and spout nonsense, as it gives me an opportunity to expose them.
There appears to be a general hatred of the english, its terribly boring and does not really make for unbiased analysis.
I hate the way they squander their rugby talent and play clueless rugby based on the mistaken belief they are more powerful than everyone else rahter than try and develop a game to suit their players.
WHICH Means possible run in with England in the semi's.... (assuming we come top of our table and make it past France (or poss NZ, but unlikely) in the QF's. I do not relish meeting Wales in the semi's.
this is flawed on so many levels, I cant see england beating france and Aus will murder Wales as they wont be daft enough to spend all game running straight at our back row and mideield who tackle for fun like both England and SA are. Aus run great lines from deep a game plan designed to draw the sting of blitz defences like Wales.
I cant see england beating france
Yawn, in your desparate quest to diss the english you have missed the point. I don't even see Wales beating fiji or samoa njever mind making it as far as Aus, but that doesn't stop me fantasizing about a possible wales england clash. Its the only route I can imagine where we would meet in this tournament.

Can you show me an anti-english comment I've made on this thread then please?

is it just me who thinks your the one who seems somewhat bitter and chippy? Or by bitter do you just mean "think the England team arent very good and are really dull to watch too"?
is it just me
Yes, a_a, I'm pretty certain it's just you. 🙂
Well I don't make anti welsh/scottish/irish statements every other post like you do. It has nothing to do with how good or bad england are, it has to do with rugby and what it means.
DD I cant be arsed to search, so it maybe that I was wrong to include you. Ok?
oh well 'll have cheer myself up

Steady a_a.
toys19, agreed. But, I won't let you down, I'll remember to make one before the end of the tournament. Then you can hammer me. 🙂
AA, who DD? Nah thanks. Anyway you are not as anti english as teej, I've seen you pour your vitriol and scotland and ireland too...
vitiol to say, England, Scotland and Ireland are all playing shite and seem deviod of ideas. Wales have a plan and its a simple one designed to deal with Fiji and Samoa and given the players at their disposal have done alright in recent years. Scotland I have sympathy for despite what TJ says they just dont have the players.
PSA: Rugby special on 5live at the moment. 🙂 (started at 9)
Scotland I have sympathy for despite what TJ says they just dont have the players.
Better crop of players now than for many a year. Optimism is the only way. Woefully short of quality tho really especially at standoff.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2011/sep/12/rugby-world-cup-2011-england
Optimism is the only way
its not the welsh way!!
"Talk to your players - And [to the American] you're doing my laundry!"
That was indeed genius, gets pushed over then tells the player he's getting his laundry bill laughing, nice one. Def enjoying the standard of refereeing in the tourny so far.
so how about some spite directed at SA then both should have been cited here, the firat happend well after the whistle had gone
Go ahead you are the specialist.
I've seen England, Wales, Ireland, NZ, Aus, France do plenty of off the ball stuff like that too. And did you see that american shoulder barge. tut tut.
The citing system works well so if Wales didn't like what SA did off the ball then they should have made a point, I wonder why they didn't?
Because Gatland isn't one of the greatest self-pleasurers the world have ever seen?
Oh, hang on...
arent citings handled by a citing comisioner these days? Otherwise I have no idea why wales chose not to highlight these.
Because Gatland isn't one of the greatest self-pleasurers the world have ever seen
Gatland is a cock lets be frank, seems a reasonable coach overall though.
