England going for a 6:2 bench split with Slade starting his second game of the season is a bold move.

England: Furbank; Feyi-Waboso, Slade, Lawrence, Freeman; M Smith, Spencer; Genge, George (capt), Stuart; Itoje, Martin; Cunningham-South, T Curry, Earl.

Replacements: Dan, Baxter, Cole, Isiekwe, B Curry, Dombrandt, Randall, Ford.

Anyone know how to watch the games?  Looks like TNT or Discovery+ (are these the same thing).

What's the cheapest way to view - any single day passes?

there all being shown on TNT which you can watch via the discovery+ app on your smart TV / Sky. sky gets discovery+ free up to a certain tier, but i think you have to upgrade to get the TNT premium to watch the autumn internationals or the Gallagher premiership. looks like it's only month subscriptions that they do at c £39

none of it is very clear from the info i've seen online

EDIT - looks like it's £31 for a monthly pass. still unclear how to actually purchase it mind

Dodgy internet feed, second cheapest is at rugby club if you ignore the cost of beer?

TNT have done a shit job of promoting this.  I'm a big rugby watcher - TV and some live games - and I've not seen a single advert.  Seems a bit pointless buying up the broadcast rights and then not promoting to target audience

Really looking forward to it. Haven't been to a game for a few years and meeting up with some old mates for pre and post game shenanigans.

He's not completely wrong though is he. Tradition and culture not withstanding, allowing them to do their thing without allowing the opposition to face them down or respond (or even go off and stay warmed up) inherently gives an advantage. And whilst I get it's a Maori tradition (although not for playing a game), watching the white guys doing it feels a bit like cultural appropriation.

Let NZ do the haka but you should be allowed to do a campese in response.

Or if it MUST be done then during the warm up.

What is borthwick doing leaving Willis out at 8, I get the Dombrant and Smith operate well but Willis has been a total monster all season.

You'd be surprised how many "white guys" in NZ have quite significant amounts of of Maori heritage.

I like it, I also don't ever see people moan about the Fijian or Samoan or Tongan war dances...only NZ, when they might get beaten (notwithstanding the fact Wales will likely lose to Fiji next week ?)

I can’t help thinking this collective series of issues means a trouncing at whatever Twickenham is called these days.   The extra £30 TV subscription will deny me the Live experience thankfully.

Good first half from England but wonder if they need to be a bit braver and kick to the corner rather than taking points.

Schoolboy error from Furbank for the first try.

England replacements not up to it. 2 scrum pens and a shaky scrum at the end.  Ford drops off a tackle and misses winning drop.

Front rows have to be replaced but why take off  Smith?

Birthday present for Mrs TiRed. Accompanied by Son1 who has played to a high standard and is equally rugby mad. Caught the end of the game on the radio after walking the dog. I went to the Olympic velodrome for my birthday, so fair is fair. Sounded close but still no win

Are these games full caps or count for standings? If so why are teams playing with the handicap of players not being released from club duties?

Next week's Fiji team will be a stronger team.

Autumn internationals are full caps, and count towards international rankings which affect the draw for the world cup.

The international window is technically only three weeks so clubs don't have to release players outside that window. Prem, top14, urc have agreements to release players for 'their' international teams, but don't have to release them for others, hence why Fiji, Samoa, Argentina always struggle in the autumn because their Europe based players aren't all released, and then don't get to have a proper training camp.

Fiji, Samoa, Argentina and Wales

Wales is a little bit different from the others. Wales are in the URC and could be in the same position as Ireland with player accessibility, but massive mismanagement has put them in this position.

The others are victims of circumstance for not being in a top flight league, Wales are victims of incompetence

Scotland have two very strong club teams and they don't have quite as many missing player this week but I do accept you point.

Off the top of my head not training with Wales this week but in the squad:

Nicky Smith

Tommy Reffell

Archi Griffin

Tshunza

Tomos Williams

Anscombe

Llewellyn

Thomas

Rowlands

and that's before we look at those ineligible due to the crazy cap rulenor this who buggered off to play in Pro D2 for more money than the can get in Wales.

Looking forward to tonight's game should be a cracker.

Suaali starting for Aus is interesting

SA-A v SA-B could be good if the B pack can cope with the A pack.

Wales looking to upset their higher world ranking opponents on Sunday...not hopeful TBH.

Winnett; Grady, Llewellyn, B Thomas, Murray; Anscombe, T Williams; G Thomas, Lake (capt), Griffin, Rowlands, Beard, Plumtree, Reffell, Wainwright.

Replacements: Elias, N Smith, Assiratti, Tshiunza, Botham, J Morgan, Bevan, Costelow

Need a strong Aus to make the Lions tour interesting.  England gotta be wondering why they can't close a game.

Ireland last night looked off the pace really - no cutting edge

Listened to it on Five Live as don't feel the need to spring for another streaming channel. God the commentary was awful! Struggled to tell from commentary where play was taking place and who had the ball, talking rubbish about how many games the 2 teams had played whilst ball was in play. It was like the commentators couldn't tell we couldn't see the action.

Sounds like England could not control a game they should have won and Australia actually came to play. Lions sounds more interesting! Good ole Joe Schmidt doing a cracking job there.

Crowd was pretty flat. But my nephew loved it. Four tries scored right in front of us, including what should have been the England winner. And then THAT try at the other end trying not to concede a penalty with poor defence. Australia have a new star in his FIRST Union game. And god he was amazing.

Let's not kid ourselves about England.

Whilst it was a very entertaining game - Australia are a poor side. They were a distant last in the RC with 1 win from 6 and looked shambolic at times.

England have not advanced one iota under Bore-thwick.

Meh; not sure we deserved to lose by that margin. I will take that, a humping of Fiji last week and the best team in the World given a hard game. Only black spot is that I am staying in Embra, am 4 pints in and HMIE are pitching up at school tomorrow. Thankfully I am not acting faculty head….oh;wait! Oh well; as AA said; “If you are going to get hung for stealing a sheep, you may as well shag it as well.”

Unlucky with the try at the end, although the Scotland pack did crumble a bit in the last 20...... Not looking forward to Wales playing them though, we'll crumble after 2mins!! Still Autumn whitewash and another 6nations wooden spoon might see the WRU find enough money down the back of the sofa to sack Gatland, although who would want the job is gard to fathom.

We went to Cardiff to see the Fiji match. Got tickets through the local clubs so £30 for adults and £15 for kids which I think is good value.

Lots of tries, massive Fijians running from any part of the pitch and a great atmosphere.

Fun day out and the right result ?

Well there we go.  I think England played very well for 70 mins, then it went to pieces.  Some great stuff.   I do think the “6 losses in a row” tag is over hyped; we’ve just played the top 2 teams in the world, and lost, but scored more tries than usual.  Should have won against Aus of course, but the losses are very much not a whitewash.

I thought England did well but the difference between say England and NZ is the NZ forwards use their feet before contact, the England forwards tried to out muscle Etzebeth and his mates,,,it doesn't work.

Steward is still a carthorse who looks great when teams kick at him, much less when they run at him in space.

Not looking forward to Wales SA, but luckily have tomorrow's pasting by Aus to keep me occupied for a while ?

Nah. Steward is the reason other teams have to 'play' as opposed to just kicking high and letting the percentages play out. TBH the obligatory WTF pick for England (again) was Slade. He's an object lesson in how to flatter to deceive.

A few England players are reaching the end. George huffs and puffs but he's never been world class in any dept. Genge is a beast in club rugby, a normal Joe at international level. Stuart is waiting for someone better to come along and he won't be seen again. Itoje is an incredible athlete, but he's not dominant enough, Martin is a dependable lump, no more. And on we go.

England are solid 2nd tier right now. But we simply do not have world XV 70-80 minute players right now.

Nah.

I bet he's still untangling his legs after that 9 went past him now!! He is far too slow to turn for an international 15.

I bet the starting England 9 spent all night having nightmares about Etzebeth charging down kicks too.

He did get turned inside out a couple of times. He'll really suffer against the French back in defence and aldrit will be lurking out there for him. I'm not sure I'd play him in the 6N. Furbank a better choice mond you I have no idea why Willis isn't even on the bench

At least with Steward the oppo tend to have to string more passes together from further out. Instead of just kicking to the likes of Furbank and getting a scrum or ruck 20 yards closer. Full backs like Furbank enhance the threat of average three-quarters.

In that situation the only thing Steward did wrong was not commit to trying to bury the 9. He might as well. If the 9 steps the right way the end result is the same. If he steps wrong he leaves the field in two pieces and Steward looks like a god.

But, on a different note... how nice is it to see wingers (Kolbe, Arendse, Bielle-Biarret) who are small, quick and actually try to run around tacklers?

The last few internationals where he did that he was carded, one a red.  Maybe that was on his mind.  Agree we need a better all around full back though.

On the plus side, Sleighthome seems to have fitted in quite well, and yeah, Slade needs to make way.

Don't worry Wales have small wingers except they try to run through people. Don't worry our midget sized backline will be breasted by the likes of Aus and SA.

Surely in that position that's the only thing to do, same for the cross kick where Colby scored.

What Kolbe did was incredibly skillful and brave. He had to set himself to take that catch in an unnatural position with a freight train coming at him. If Steward had guessed right, Kolbe would not have been able to soak up any of the impact.

As good at the scrum half's run was, it was pretty much a regulation step.

I stand by my comments though - Steward at least forces the oppo to play from further out, more often. With the current level of the whole team, I think that is the right way to play.

Watched the first half before my streaming solution failed me.

At 15 minutes I thought Wales were going to be humiliated, then they got a couple of scores (was that just Aus not paying attention?) and thought it was going to be closer.

I was right the first time.

I don't know anything about coaching but it seems to me that Wales have just run out of players and the WRU don't seem to have a solution.

If they're not careful kids will see that Wales are no longer in the "top tier" and the home game will lose it's roots.

"Wales games are all on s4c you can watch on iPlayer"

At some point Nick Mullins will get an award for the sterling service he is doing by encouraging people to learn some Welsh by switching to S4C...even if it's only "cais' "dyfarnwr" and "Rwy'n meddwl bod Gatland wedi cael ei sglodion"

This link may be handy for Welsh learners/beginners trying to follow S4C coverage

https://parallel.cymru/terminoleg-rygbi/?lang=en

Top tip - if you have Sky you can set your box default language to Welsh and it will automatically give you English commentary for S4C matches....as long as the broadcast rights allow it...so mainly URC matches...not so much internationals or European fixtures

South Africa side to face Wales
Aphelele Fassi; Cheslin Kolbe, Jesse Kriel, Damian de Allende, Kurt-Lee Arendse; Jordan Hendrikse, Jaden Hendrikse; Ox Nche, Johan Grobbelaar, Thomas du Toit, Jean Kleyn, Franco Mostert, Siya Kolisi (capt), Elrigh Louw, Jasper Wiese.

Replacements: Malcolm Marx, Gerhard Steenekamp, Vincent Koch, Eben Etzebeth, RG Snyman, Cameron Hanekom, Cobus Reinach, Handre Pollard.

Gulp,  tbh I think they would win just using the players on the bench!!!
