You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
The best thing one of the England wings can do now is step inside and headbutt the closest part of an Argentinian player. Yellow at worst, red at best. It will reach the point where everybody just steps inside, lets the tackle arm ride up and faceplants it.
Drop goals?
Now there's a thing.
Most entertaining game so far, so far
England are doing the right things. They must target the ball in the tackle and they are.
I started off neutral, the commentary has me now looking forward to the liberation of the Malvinas. Holy crap!!! 2003 references included.
The commentary us a bit John inverdale meets jiffy.
Turgid. Both sides pretty terrible. Other than Lawes pretty immense, and can't argue with Ford seeing what needs to be done and taking the drops
Can't believe the commentator has just said England have been really good
****ing ITV...Dilly, Wood**** and Wilkinson are the balanced panel. I notice the host didn't ask the one with the brain about the red card!
Can always rely on Dagllilio for a balanced view...can we get Brian Moore back?
How many points for celebrating a knock on.
NON ZERO
So just stop it
I switched to radio 5live but unbelievably it has worse commentary.
rather telling that the last 40 minutes or so of comments are entirely focused on the commentary, the panel, the......
I know there's a strong ABE element of rugby watchers on here but any thoughts on the rugby itself? A rearguard performance that is actually worth commenting on?
Rubbish game. England suffocating the Pumas. Ford showing why he is the best English 10.
Argentina have been shit and the ref has favoured England after the red. How he thought Daly hadn't knocked on is beyond me. England doing well though. Ford very good.
Alternative view, it’s an interesting game. England forcing Argentina to make mistakes, give penalties away etc.
England forwards have been the dominant team in the scrums. Englands defence has been very good.
Going to be interesting to see how England defend when they are getting tired.
Will they drop Ford when Farrell can play again?
England huge in defence Argentina clueless
I've seen Argentina play much better it's like they have turned off their rugby brain.
It's the Ford show right now but better teams will soon sus that.
Not the best
With Ford starting and Smith to come on Farrell should never play for England again.
But he will.
EDIT: and this shouldn’t be news and should have been the norm for the last 3 or 4 years!
Alternative view, it’s an interesting game
I mean it's a view!!!
I am sure it's a great watch for an England fan but it's been a shit game for a neutral. Argentina have got nothing right, kudos to England for that but it has been poor
As a Welshman I’m enjoying it.
A team missing a flanker, previously been known to defend pretty poorly, struggled over the last few years….
And now looking organised, a scrum half who was actually trying to go forward at pace. I always enjoy watching Lawes play. So for me, it’s enjoyable.
ARG have now infected the commentator, unforced errors left right and centre. Gave ENG 3 extra points to 27-3, scrum for held up over the line and now Curry's yellow card.
Aye, I don't see anyone starting to worry about England.... getting seriously bored with Stuart Barnes as well
Fair play England have ground that one out and got through it....they could easily kick on now
Agree, don’t think anyone will be worried about England. Still very blunt in attack.
They’ll still give away a lot of penalties against better teams. But fair play to them, they did what they needed to do. A very good England performance all things considered.
Agree it was a shit game. Argentina were horrendous. One try and that was at 77 mins.
Great win I thought. Playing pretty much a full game a man down and dominating a top team. Arg were shit, but that was because of Eng pressure.
Building blocks.
Ford was fantastic.
England deserved that for the defensive dominance. No argument with that.

Agree with that.. Argies were favourites going in and we thrashed em, so that’ll do for me.
Will give them a positive report card for the defense.
Ford and Lawes as always put effort in.
Attempted running with the ball 3/10
Argentina, left the playbook on the bus in the carpark.
RFU " nothing to see here English rugby is right on track please ignore the financial state of the game at home we know what we are doing. anyone got some fancy biscuits"
Rubbish game if all you want to see is champagne rugby. Whichever way you cut it, that is one hell of a performance with 14 for the whole game.
The only team that are a genuine contender, that play 'nice' rugby, are France. SA only play when their big lumps have got them a penalty advantage or they are ten points clear. Ireland purely play the percentages too.
England will not win this tournament, let's not get carried away. But as a one-off performance, it doesn’t get much better than that - given the circumstances.
Argentina were bloody awful, but that's not England's fault. Argentina couldn't keep the ball in hand enough even if they had the right ambition (which should have been to play side-to-side way more and try to get around the corner and/or dog-leg the defensive line).
Attempted running with the ball 3/10
As mentioned by the commentator, all the time ARG were being so obliging in the version of the game being played, why on earth would they want to see if they could play an alternative one better?
Lawes and ford were superb I'd be concerned about how England go into contact. Winning ugly is still winning.
I thought it was the most entertaining game of the day. Not 'great' rugby, but plenty happening and some decent performances by England. For once England weren't the team unable to think on their feet. Dalallio & Woodward getting totally carried away, but there was enough there imho to suggest England could well make the semi-finals. I'd have liked to see Marcus Smith play at 15 for part of the second half with Ford still at 10 - Freddie Steward just doesn't seem to be an attacking threat.
For once England weren’t the team unable to think on their feet.
100%.

Argentina were bloody awful,
This really. Japan will be another tough game and then if we top the pool we’ll fall to a much better team. For this game to have actually been “good” England might have scored a try or two. Still a blunt attack hiding behind Fords excellence.

I thought it was a decent game. Fair play, tries were scarce, but a good lesson in how to not lose when you're a man down from the off. Argentina really struggled to do anything with the ball. Fords kicking was outstanding. England should have been on their knees by the end. Shows their fitness is good.

Point of order, EVERYBODY in the world supports their home team then whoever are playing England, but yeah; it’s us.
And the game was crap.
Shows their fitness is good.
There were hint pre tournament that Borthwick was running them ragged and this was one impact in the warm up games. Maybe it’s true, skill aside 14 playing at that pace constantly in the faces of the oppo shows fitness, although perhaps the effort told at the end with the Argentinian try.
C'mon Chile 😃
Happy to see Chile score a try, entertaining game. I'd love to see Japan beat Argentina or England and make the semi-finals again. Same as with the last World Cup, the Japanese players are used to playing in the heat, they can keep up the pace right to the end.
Come on Scotland! Batter them!!
Unlikely I fear. I have my pillow fort behind the sofa ready
One for the dentists there, interesting bite pattern on that SA fan.
Time to watch Scotland get a shoeing....

Home in time to watch the game…. C’mon Scotland!
Shove up Teej, I need to get behind the sofa too...
Head on head there. Yellow card
Presumably the TMO is looking at the Kriel challenge???!!!
That's nonsense (with the rules the way they are). That's a yellow minimum. Inconsistency. 🤬
Presumably the TMO is looking at the Kriel challenge
**** knows what they do look at!!
Both Scottish props got folded in half there. Ominous.
**** knows what they do look at!!
It's poor. If World Rugby really want to continue this crusade, they simply cannot have games refereed inconsistently. 🤦♂️
Send him off!! 😉😂
Send him off!!
Yellow. They have to be consistent even if the rules are daft.
I haven't seen a single thing yet to suggest that Scotland can win this game.

I'm hoping for a couple of inspirational moments of genius from Finn. 🤞🏻

We are going to get gubbed, 39 tackles made after 25 mins…
We are going to get gubbed, 39 tackles made after 25 mins…
I can't see this going any other way than a steady trickle of points up to 60 mins then a deluge.
Mind you, surely a yellow coming for the Saffers front row for persistent infringement?
Gotta love seeing the SAfers getting pushed about in the scrum. SA looking a bit sluggish generally. If Scotland keep the tempo up...
Kriel no review was odd, seemed more obvious than some that have received reds (not that I'm saying it deserved a red).
SA don't seem to have turned up yet.
(And the ITV commentary is getting on my nerves)
Darcy butchered that overlap. We can't miss chances
There are going to be a few sore bodies tomorrow. Brutal stuff.
Definite signs of improvement from Scotland though as the half went on. I’m hopeful now of a narrow defeat rather than an utter hammering. 😀 There’s Scottish optimism for you!!
Worried about the SA scrum bench. It'll be a brutal, for Scotland, change over.
Bugger.....
Beautiful from SA!
Good try
Scotland need to up their game now. Not really in the same class as the top 4 teams based on this game.
There's not a single sub SA make that makes you think there might be a chink in the armour.
Vermeulen for Wiese.
All six front rows would easily make any other team.
Etzebeth, Mostert, Syman etc. Du Toit can play 2nd row too.
Reinach for De Klerk.
Ad infinitum.
They are offside every single time Scotland get ball.
I know you all love a 10 making no arms tackles. Finn Russell tried twice today and has hurt himself both times.
He should give Owen Farrell a ring after this match!!
Lack of plan b from Russell and his mates. SA have shut down Finn's passing game.
TBF to Russell, he's made 2 try saving tackles as well though.
Never mind TJ, better luck next time. Shame that's the end of the weekends games, oh well it's been fun, see you next weekend
Lack of plan b from Russell and his mates. SA have shut down Finn’s passing game.
Scotland could have done with George Ford 😉
Power wins out, going to be hard team to beat. I thought Scotland stuck to it well , everyone wishes they had a bench like the Saffers.
