One in the eye for the anyone but England crowd I reckon 😉
As an England supporter its great that they are through. However, the accomplishment is tainted by knowing they had an easier route
As a Scotland fan (who wanted Fiji to win), there's nothing tainted about it. You can only beat what's in front of you and England have done very well. Okay they aren't the greatest England team ever, by some considerable way, but they are in a semi-final. Something Scotland couldn't do.
But huge plaudits to Fiji. Some moments of utter brilliance today, just let down by conceding daft penalties. I've loved watching them though. Hopefully world rugby will encourage them (and teams like Georgia, Portugal etc), but the reality is that they won't.
The words practice and preach spring to mind! 🙄
Naw, think I'll go hang out with these English fan 'characters' instead.
Yeah, Kenny x2 I wouldn’t have cared if the entire Irish squad had been eaten by the Kraken on the eve of our game. You can only beat what is in front of you and Engerland have won all their games. Not sure they are as good as the commentators are currently suggesting mind!
Another good game England at least played with some self belief for long periods. Not likely to make the final though. Weeks and weeks ago some podcaster (can't remember which) said the tournament would be book ended by matches between NZ and France. I did'nt believe him , looks like he'll be right though
Is it just me, or does 'Sir Clive' basically talk utter utter shite?
it just me, or does ‘Sir Clive’ basically talk utter utter shite?
He's known nothing about rugby since 2003. No idea why they keep rolling him out.
I think it's either age or early onset something. He's definitely not as erudite as he used to be 🤔
SCW is still living off 2003 rugby. He has very little of use to offer the analysis
I wouldn’t have cared if the entire Irish squad had been eaten by the Kraken on the eve of our game
Let's be honest, Gregor Townsend finding a mythical sea monster with a Scottish granny (Loch Ness monster?) before the next Six Nations is probably our best chance of glory.
And maybe a Sasquatch or two in the back row.
Determined and disciplined defence triumphed yet again. Defence rather attack has been a feature of this tournament
He was highly regarded @ 2003. The bloke did well in his day. Hope I'm still relevant in 20yrs time. Doubt it somehow 🤔
Fiji had a confusing 20mins that lost them the game. Honestly I can england in the final by playing turgid rugby. Admittedly that was the best they have played Farrell can still do one with that pained expression.
Laws had good game as did smith despite being battered
smith despite being battered
He definitely took a couple for the team!
As an England supporter its great that they are through. However, the accomplishment is tainted by knowing they had an easier route
Not at all. Despite not playing well they beat every team and got further than they were expected to. Doubt they’ll get through the semi but love to see it.
I’m not much of a rugby fan, but I do enjoy tasting the bitter tears of certain STWers
I reckon I’m pig headed but AA and TJ take it to another level.
Although I think I would enjoy their company in real life, sometimes on here it becomes hard work! I hope to meet them at a game one day, Ospreys v Glasgow maybe?
How was Farrell Player of the match! I haven’t a dog in the fight but thought Ben Earl was stand out English player.
Thought Ben Earls was MOTM as well, just wish he’d stop screaming every time the opposition knock on or miss touch…
How was Farrell Player of the match!
Match winning deliberate knock on. 😜
More juice in that Saffer team than the soft drinks isle in Tescos.
21 minutes in - what a game.
What a game.
who had 57-53 on the score predictor?
I dare not type in case I miss something.
while you were typing France scored.
Is this the highlight reel
Just getting silly now 🤯
Defence rather attack has been a feature of this tournament
Until now
Insane! Genuinely the best 30 minutes of attacking rugby I've ever seen!
.
What a brilliant performance from both teams of France and S. Africa.
Whoever wins tonight, will win the World Cup!
"Another good game."
After 27 mins of tonights game I've changed my mind the previous game was dull as dishwater
Its like a whole different game
That’s not going to age well if England meet either SA or France
Well we still made it further than other home nations.
A point per minute, this has been amazing
I reckon I’m pig headed but AA and TJ take it to another level.<br />Although I think I would enjoy their company in real life
Honestly, I'm even more of a dickhead inbreal life!!
This game though is great, no idea how SA are staying in it.
50:50 on Eben coming back on I reckon
Truly breathtaking 1st half. Couldn’t call who is going to take it. Big call coming up on the yellow/red. I want to to be a yellow purely so the game continues like it has. Etzebeths knock back could have seen him off already if he had got that slightly wrong. Microscopic margins in this one
My adrenalin is through the roof - could you imagine how hyped you'd be if your were french or a SAffer
Well we still made it further than other home nations.
Good work, well done.
Irish fans must be seething!!
Scotland fans get to still kid themselves
I am a bit pissed off but tbh we exceeded expectations in the group and then blew it. The numbers on the Welsh jerseys for the Argentina game were a great metaphor for our play. Started bright and bold and ended crumbling to nothing!
We've seen cricket scores this tournament, looks like we're heading for a basket ball score.
Am I right in thinking that Scotland are the only home nations team to have played against teams ranked higher than themselves so far in this World Cup.....?
I think so. Depends on the argentina ranking I think
That was weird. I'm not sure some of those number quite made kick off. 10 was obviously an issue, not fit biggar then Costello trying to win the game but not experienced enough yet.
We said 2 years ago that Scotland weren't get out the groups.
Ireland were just outplayed.
Not sure any of the home nations would be in this match. France and SA would/will be impossible to survive.
Well that was a tense finish to the England game.
I think England's biggest strength is in their kicker, sounds like 2003 again.
Shame about Ireland losing to New Zealand again, I really thought they'd win the World Cup this time.
Here we go SA slowing the game by getting medics on.
second half shit so far 😉
Am I right in thinking that Scotland are the only home nations team to have played against teams ranked higher than themselves so far in this World Cup…..
Pretty sure Wales were below both Aus and Fiji
They probably should be 😜
Pretty sure Wales were below both Aus and Fiji
Nope, 7th, just behind Scotland and England
Fairy nuff
Ref calls time off with every reset scrum in the fra-rsa game. How come that didn't happen at the end of. England-Fiji????
****ing SAffers
No idea how SA stayed in that for the first half!! Congrats SA.
That was some game, can’t see past the Saffers for the tournament.
Shit…..
Strong display Saffers, well played both teams
What are you guys on about, didn't you hear Sir Clive earlier? He said that England wouldn't be worried about either France or SA
France 28 - 29 South Africa
What a game!
Hope the semi-final will be as good.
England vs S.Africa
Get ready for Saturday!
That Colby charge down was match winning! What a game. Sad we can’t just replay that for the final
Amazing how SA got away with wasting time in the last 10 minutes.
Disappointing result, but SA are very good.
Kolbe had a great game.
Amazing game. Possibly the most physically intense 80 minutes I’ve ever seen. The hits! If i was Smith or Ford I might be pulling a hamstring in training 😬
So the mighty four are:
NZ
RSA
Argentina?!?
England?!?!?!?!
I suppose you just play the team in the other changing room, but the draw didn’t favour anyone at all really did it?
The semis ought to have been NZ-All Ireland and RSA-France.
Not England’s fault, nor Argentina’s, but World Rugby what were you thinking?
Lay off Clive Woodward. He was of his time, marginal gains and all that, he did his job well.
Absolutely fantastic weekend of rugby. Huge congratulations to all eight teams. And to the eight sets of fans too. The sporting reactions at the end from both winners and losers was great to see.
